I have recently bought an APC 1.1kVa (Model no. BX1100C-IN ) regular pc ups for my 2.1 setup plus Integrated amp. Till date it's working fine. Though read here in diffrent threads regarding modified square wave ac output of online ups and negative effects of it on different components . I am using this ups solely to prevent any damage due to sudden outage or voltage flactuatuation and to get ample time to safely shut down all my equipments.

Thank you mate for the information and that is correct modified square wave might cause issues, I have ordered today one GXT MT+ CX 1 kva online UPS from Vertiv ( Emerson), i think it does Pure Sinewave , let see how it goes , it will not give me much backup (max 15 min )(i have space issue, so I took internal battery solution) but the aim is to protect my gear not the backup.

Also I am thinking I have an inverter from Exide which also does pure shine wave as per their documentation at least. In future if i need back up, i might use its out put to online ups input and extend some time for backup but that is my imagination , do not plan/test/check anything like that way. For now m taking this online ups to protect my equipment. Actually 2 kva would be an ideal one, considering future requirements but dnt have much money left , so for now going with this 1 kva only.

Streaming service like Netflix sends the Atmos metadata via DD+ so regular ARC should do the trick if your AVR supports Atmos.

Let see if i receive all the equipment by this weekend, will give it a try and if it works it will be very good , will update you.

Hi All,

Last week 4th July , wake up quite early in the morning actually not able to sleep at night, Akshay ji requested me to get a car so that we can share some load with him. 1st hurdle was my old alto not taking self start, because of lock down did not take it out, called mechanic and arrange a spare battery and fix that issue, due to this we stated little late, reached at his place around 1 pm, transfer few boxes from his car to mine then start from there around 2 pm , it was raining very badly, I was worried about the online ups delivery which was suppose to done by 3rd July but due to some consequences it was not done on time. Anyways we reached home at 3 PM , my electrician also waiting for me. As soon as we reached start working on wiring , it finished around 8 pm , in between receive the UPS, it was quite late, still Akshay Ji did the initial setup and left for home.
I worked till 4 am to do the setup and install, all software update for AVR, Zappiti media player etc, at the end clean the room and sanitize it, later went to bed. Next day wake up late, at first i did Dirac setup it was quite easy , but my ups was doing quite a noise around -42 db which is not good at all. Dirac giving warring message so turn it off during the setup and complete it, played few atmos demo track ...it was really impressive. Really like the sound.

I am planning to place the UPS to some other place, at my common room may be and rewiring it accordingly.

currently do not have a dedicated rack so have to keep the AVR on and the center speaker on top of the tv stand and floor, next month will try to build some rack , advice me some closed rack design for AV equipment if possible.

I have tested Netflix from my TV but unfortunately Atmos not worked out.

Anyways my special thanks goes to Auditro for making my dream comes true, arranging all this equipment such a short time , in current situation.
also to my wife who allow me to do the setup.

Thank you all FM who help and educate me till now, this is just a start.

Hello Guys!

This is my first post on this forum so first of all thank you for grant my access.
I live in Kolkata (nearby airport) and working in IT, in home theater I do not have much experience not an audio profile as well.
Let me explain little more about my interests in music and movies, hence this is a forum where people are specialist in sound technology or much more experience than me at least.

Music:
I used to listen: (mostly on my head phone on my old q25, computer speakers or in tv)
Genre I like as below
Trance: psychedelic trance, progressive trance, electronica and sometime house and ambiance music.
Instrumental: flute (classical ragas by hari prasad chaurasia), santoor (by pandit shivkumar sharma), pop and classical popular songs on piano and violin.
Rock: soft rock and alternative mostly also I like to listen Sufi and folk songs and old Hindi and Bengali movie songs of Kishore Kumar, Hemant Mukherjee, RD, Asha ji, Lata ji and rest.

At the same time, my wife plays classical guitar, so we listen few ragas some time on guitar (mohan bina) …again over the head phone or on our tv.

Movies:
I am not a big fan of movies and tv series but my better half is and she like suspense thrillers, drama and horror movies, I have to give her company and being doing that I am also start love watching movies.

Source of this music or movies are mostly online, in mp3 or lossless format downloaded or from amazon prime music /videos, Netflix, YouTube etc.

I do not have any music system at home so would like setup a HT which will enhance my movie watching and music listening experience.

My usage will be 60% movies and 40% music.

Again guys many thanks for such a good forum, last few days I went through few posts which are very informative, specially from this forum I was able make out at Kolkata where I can go and have some audition experience. Today I went for an audition of a HT setup with B&W speakers and Denon AVR, it pretty impressive at sollfege but very costly, out of my budget.

So guys please help to setup my first home theater with 5.1.2 Atoms sound system. My budget is 1 lac. (I can stretch 20k more max).

Rome size:
I do not have a dedicated HT room, my room size is quite small 120sq feet approx., L12 X W10 X H10 feet with concrete ceiling. Do not have much space to accommodate floor standing speakers as well.

I've done some research and read few of threads on this forum and
I've narrowed down to the following:

1. A/V receiver: Yamaha RX-V 585
2. Speakers: No idea which ones. But, I need speakers

2 left right bookshelf front, like polk s20
2 small surround rear like Polk TL2
1 slim center channel Polk s35 or any smaller one.
2 ceiling like Polk rc60i for atoms
1 SUB like Polk psw 10

Or should I go with a generic 5.1 speaker system like Polk audio tl1600 or elac cinema 5 + 2 ceiling speakers , but will they produce good sound for music listening experience, will center channel able to produce enough power. I bought, sony HDR 4k KD8300D tv two years back, picture quality is good but the sound is not at par, specially dialog are not that clear.
So currently am very confused state, please help!

Another good alternative would be a Denon X1400H (its available for around 36K, its proper 5.2.2 channel and has true dolby atmos support - its really a steal at this price) and a 3020i at the front with 3010i at the rear with the 3090ci center channel (36K + 22K + 17K + 16K = 81K well within your budget and you can add a great sub like Yamaha NS-SW300 or a PSB Alpha S10 for 30K more = 1.11L) but if you want big bass without going forr a sub, look at the Q Acoustics 3050i floor standers for 59K - they are brilliant for all types of music and if you haven't heard them, you need to rush out now to a deale and hear it to believe it. The synergy between the speakers is stellar and the 3020is are also fantastic for music. 3090ci is great for dialog and the slam required for movies and i have tried it back to back with a Pol S35 Centre and the Q Acoustics was better at half the price (I ended up picking the Q Acoustics Concept Centre for 26K as it was miles ahead of the Polk S35 performance wise). And if you need some more info on these speakers, You should check out the reviews on youtube by Thomas & Stereo, Zero Fidelity, Steve Guttenberg and the Home Theater Hobbyist.
