please recommend good dvd player for mp4

i tried searching the forum, but mp4 is too short of a word for the search engine. i am expecting a bunch of mp4 files on dvd from europe. i am in the usa. i don't know if region matters for mp4.
what dvd player can i get which will almost certainly play mp4 files.
nothing expensive.
or even a bluray player would be fine if that is more feasible.

Most DVD players won't play HD mp4 files. So it is better to get a blu-ray player or an HD media player like asus oplay mini. HD media players have no dvd drive but they will play any media formats from USB pendrive, HDD etc. You can attach an external dvd drive for dvd playback.

so all i need is an external dvd drive, which i already have, and i
plug it into an HD media player, which go for about $25 new on ebay
(something like this one -

and then plug the HD media player into my tv, and i'll be all set? it will play most any mp4 file?
i assume that the HD media player will be able to control the dvd drive (fast forward, skip to next file, etc.)
