If your smartphone has an IR blaster, then I highly recommend this.

If it lacks an IR blaster, you can find Wi-Fi to IR conversion devices.

Also, manufacturers will have their own apps.

Logitech is good, and I have used one in the past, but this day and age the smartphone is very much a universal thingy for everything.

Check out the Logitech Harmony remote control line. I have used the ELITE for about a week (my friend, visiting me on his way home had a brand new one) with Marantz NR1506, Tata Sky HD+, my Panasonic TV and my really old Philips Matchline 3 receiver with it. He eventually sent me his old Harmony 650 that I used for about 2 months till my dog chewed it all up.

A new 650 costs around 7.5K on amazon/ebay. I am not aware of any shop locally selling them in Delhi/India.

And a useful guide to setup the harmony with your Tata Sky+ : https://goo.gl/zzC94R

**You should do a little research on device compatibility, though I didn't face any issues really.

Thanks!

Harmony 650 if you want seamless usage (one button to switch on everything/change sources etc/switch everything off)

Harmony Hub if you want seamless usage + Smartphone compatibility + home automation integration (even if at a later stage)

Don't bother with non macro universal remotes- You are probably better off using 4 different remotes vs 1 remote that requires multiple button clicks for a single task

Get a Harmony 350 - will support 4 devices or if you want to go cheaper get a Sony RMVLZ620 (8 devices). Both are fully learning devices.

The 350 is easier to setup, but the Sony can be configured for upto 8 Macros (the Logitech has only 1 Watch TV button). The Sony is a hidden gem.

Have been using both the Harmony and Sony remotes for years (these 2 as well as both their predecessors), and both are brilliant.

I think URC 7960 is closed model. But still available in shop clue for Rs.1266. You can search in electronic shops in chennai. Or you can go for present models in the same brand.
