Few days back I had posted an image of plinth drawing in this thread started by Mr. Naveen. I am making this plinth for one of my friend. Today I am starting my own thread on this topic.

Bought Plywood Sheet, made the cad models and took them to the CNC guy & got the sheet cutted as per cad drawings. The Top and bottom layers will be mdf and the inbetween layers will be plywood. Below are some images of this new project.

This is for me :) I had requested to Sadik to make a good looking plinth for my L75 and Technics SP-12. I wanted a plinth with removable tonearm board with RCAs and IEC connectors at back. I am glad he agreed to start with L-75> His work is exceptional. I am currently using the speakers he made for me. I can vouch for the quality.

Regards
Sachin

Today's Progress

Started the assembly today by gluing plywood sheets with each other. I did not had the right size clamps to hold the assembly together so made some desi JUGGAD with help of nut bolts and left over pieces of plywood & mdf. The 4 nos clamps which are seen in the photo are just purchased today (Rs. 250/- for each) form a local shop.

As always excellent work by Sadik. Finish and workmanship is excellent. Nice idea of using nuts and bolts. Do put in small wooden piece between metal clamp and plinth which will cover more pressure area and save you trouble of finishing markings.

Warm regards.

Thankx @sachu888 (Sachin) for the complement.

Thank you @Hiten. I am not worried for the markings caused by clamps, as this plywood be a sandwich between mdf. I will take care on the outer mdf layer.

Now today's update.
Finished gluing all the plywood sheets together. Tomorrow I will sand them in evening. and level the outer wall. Below are photos of today's work.

which tonearm do you plan to use ?

is the plinth you are making - a "universal" type ie good for all tonearms ?

Hi
I will use a diy 12" Schroeder clone. The armboard is removable, so I can use any other tonearm in future. I also have a spare Jelco SA50 , gifted by a dear friend. Here is a pic of my current plinth

sachu

how thick do you plan to keep the tonearm board ?

higher the thickness - wont that increase the tonearm height relative to the platter ??

Silly question... Sorry..

I understand the tonearm board will be sunk into the plinth. ...

That's very true Sachin, quick query, as per the design, is your Lenco top plate screwed down in the center area (apart from the side bolting? Just curious. Btw, lovely tonearm that really is.
