Pls suggest cordless phones

Hi anm, I already have a 220 to 110 plug size converter and that works well in India

Are you sure all these have 110 v only chargers? I saw someone mention uniden and vtech not sure how copmparable they are w.r.t quality and durability w.r.t panasonic. Seems good on pricing though.

saikat - please share the converter plug link/ photo.

What I have is similar to this VCT ELECTRONICS - Simran SM 1875 - 1,875 Watt International Travel Voltage Converter for 110V USA Products In 220V/240V Countries

Fits directly into the plug and converts 220 V AC to 110V AC, but the one I have is limited to 50-60 Watts max. Bought this years back when I was in US. But I looked now on ebay and found these are readily available here as well and probably at lesser price than US

DONT PAY more than 1k for these outdated items..local gray market will be best.

my preference:
slim and light one
+ big display
+500 contact memo

however cheaper ones interfere with tv etc...may be harmful to u also.
All modern (DECT) digital cordless phones emit the same type of pulsed microwave radiation, and the base stations emit their radiation even when the phone is not in use as long as they are plugged in. A DECT phone is a mobile phone, and its base is a mobile phone mast in your house or office. DECT pulses are far more aggressive some say 100 times worse than mobiles, and twice as strong as those found with 100 metres of mobile masts. If you must use one, keep the base unit and remote extra handsets away from where you sleep.

I finally purchased this Amazon.com: Panasonic KX-TG7642M DECT 6.0 Link-to-Cell via Bluetooth Cordless Phone with Answering System, Metallic Gray, 2 Handsets: Electronics and shipped via ishopinternational (old shopabroadonline) and utilized their independance offer of 50% shipping cost savings. Total with shipping and duty came to around INR 6800. This one can make and receive calls via bluetooth using at most 2 cell phones simultaneously (you can register more). Can power the base in case of power failure.

Reception is very good. Range is also very good and most importantly does not get hot if you speak for long. The speaker phone is also very good on base as well as individual handsets.

btw, adaptors are 110 volts only so I had to buy two 50Watt power converters from ebay (220 to 110 v converters) for around 350 each.

if u dont have amazon and panasonic fever ,
many uniden offerings come with answering machine in 3.5k
Uniden DECT1580 DECT Cordless Phone 1 Handset, Answering, Speakerphone, More! | eBay

has answering machine!woohoo.

kaushik,
this uniden phone cannot connect cell phones via bluetooth, needed when home land line is down (in my area severaly happens in rainy season, cell phone is backup which my mother finds difficult to use). Also cannot power the base when there is power off (very important if this is your main landline).

also does it have speaker phone on handset and also 3.5 jack for ear phone connection? these are two impotant features I looked for.

I bought the TG6645 (w/o bluetooth but 5 handsets) few months ago. The newer Panasonic adapters come at a weird voltage (5.5V DC) and have a strange dimension jack (3.5mm I think) as well. Tried a lot of stunts to get them to work and lost a couple of 110V Panasonic adapters using one direct to 230V and the other with a 230V to 110V SMPS transformer.

Finally got a 5V SMPS adapter, cut the wire and connected the Panasonic jack to it. No problems at all. By the way, 230V adapters for this phone are now available from Panasonic for Rs. 700.

Have to get the DTMF FSK caller ID converter now.

where do you get the 230v adapters in india? though my converters are working fine for the timebeing.

Also why do you need the DTMF FSK caller id?
