Pls suggest cordless phones

where do you get the 230v adapters in india? though my converters are working fine for the timebeing.

Also why do you need the DTMF FSK caller id?

By the way, I checked and you have the same 5.5V DC 500ma adapter (PNLV226Z) adapter as I do.

You can call up the Panasonic service center (not dealer) to get them. One Panasonic model in India uses the 230V equivalent of the same adapter.

I was after the service center for months and they kept promising the adapter "next week". Finally I got a call a few days ago but by then I had already come up with a solution.

The DLink surplus SMPS adapter I got rated at 5V DC outputs at close to 5.5V DC whereas the 5.5V Panasonic adapter outputs at close to 6V DC :)

DTMF -> FSK converter is to make Caller ID work in India.

Thanks, that is why I wondered why caller id is not working for me. Any link for that and where it is available?

Also I am noticing that whenever I switch on the phone and the BSNL internet is running there is lot of disturbance in the line, vanishes if I switch off internet, never happended with my old Panasonic cordless purchased from India. I am using the BSNL supplied broadband line splitter which used to filter out all these interferences earlier.

The DTMF -> FSK converter is available on eBay by a Bangalore seller for around Rs. 500. I had called the seller and he insists on orders via eBay and shipping through courier even though for me he is just a few kilometers away.

Rs. 500 is on the high side but I have been lazy to go check out the electronic shops. The same ones from China cost less than half when I last looked.

The eBay one comes with a splitter for BSNL, so no need for the old one. I too have BSNL (with DLink splitter) and have not been able to eliminate the crosstalk from the split. Sometimes I can hear the modem sounds during a conversation. I haven't bought the eBay splitter yet, so I have no idea if it helps.

The other thing to note from the eBay description is that it takes 3 rings to display the Caller ID.

Will wait for your feedbacks if crosstalk exists in the new steup with new splitter.

@Nowwhat, thanks a lot. I was also wondering why my new Panasonic is not showing the CID which was shown by my earlier Panasonic. Let me try the new option.

@Haisaikat, I also think the new phone could be the reason why my BSNL Fiber Modem is going for a toss every once in a while. While my problem is not excatly yours, the problem started after putting the new phone to the Modem.

I would be frank here and must admit that sometime the modem does disconnect temporarily when I pick handset to make a call.

Never happens with me, however I used the DLink splitter that came with my modem.

Not sure when I will get around to buying the Caller ID converter. It is not a high priority for me at the moment as I have another Caller ID landline phone. If anybody does take the plunge, I would be interested to know the feedback.

Received the splitter cum converter today. Problem... If I connect the splitter with main tel line and phone line and modem then the cordless phone keeps showing that Line is in Use as if some one has kept the handset picked up and hence the dial tone soon goes into engage tone rendering the phone useless for sending and receiving calls. Tried with two more phones at house same issue. Seems it has something to do with this new splitter :( will research more

Is that with the eBay splitter?

Pls check if the seller has a refund policy. You should probably return it to him in that case.

seller shipped a replacement, everything works perfectly with this replacement now. Just one glitch, not related to the device though, every incoming CID is prefixed with 1 (US ISD Code) since this is a imported phone, trying to figure out if there is any setting to either eliminate it or set to 91 (India)
