Hi,

I would like to know whether Denon 1612 will be able to drive Polk RtiA5(now i have tsi300).Currently my centre spkr is cs20 and rear is tsi100.Do i need to change both if i upgrade to RtiA5 ?
Also my present subwoofer is psw110,do I need to change it also?

I just read the HT lab test measure and found that Denon 1612 can provide 72 watts continous power with all 5 channels driven simultaneously. To me, it is outstanding for small receiver like 1612.
Having said that, Denon 1612 can drive RtiA5. 70 watts per channel is no less by any means. Though it cannot fully exploit the power of RtiA5 (rated at 20 to 250w per channel, 90 db sensitivity and 8 ohms impedance), but certainly it can drive 50 to 60% potential of RtiA5 without clipping. Even other bigger AV receivers cannot drive those speakers at 100% percent unless you have a dedicated amp. Any way, Denon 1612 is okay.

Also, please audition those speakers with 1612 to see if you are okay with the sound signature.

pls let me know whether RtiA5 will be compatible with centre (cs20) and subwoofer(psw110)

If you are planning to upgrade center and surrounds later, you can go ahead. Otherwise I won't recommend changing fronts alone to A5.

If you like watching Hollywood action movies with surround effects, you will notice that RTi A5 is over powering your center and surrounds.

If you run Audyssey mostly it will keep the gain of A5 low to match center and surrounds.

A surround effect spanning from left to right through center channel will not be even.

I would recommend upgrading all speakers to RTi series.
Generally subwoofer matching is not an issue, but if you feel the power is less you my upgrad to DSW550 or 660

In my opinion, TSi to RTi is not a big upgrade.
Try to jump to the next level if you can afford.

No dude. Can u place a Swift engine in an SX4 and expect the same performance out of the car?
By my eg what im trying to state is that, whilst u might argue that a swift is equally potent, i would say that it still aint an sx4. Same is your case. You cannot drive towers like the Rtia5 with a 1612. You will get sound but no actual performance that the towers can produce.
