PSB Alpha B1 - Rs. 16500 and Gloss White Finish : Rs. 30500
PSB Image B5 - Rs. 28000
PSB Image B4 - Rs. 22,500

These prices are inclusive of Vat @ 12.5% and 3 Years Warranty.

is the PSB Alpha available at this price in bangalore?

It should that price or at the max 17-17.5 due to recent dollar fluctuations, ask Lakozy Bangalore. Even at 17 its a great speaker.

Also consider the Aviano 2 around 19K.

EDIT: Just noticed that the rates given are by Ashish himself (Lakozy Delhi and a very nice person to deal with). So it has to be available at that price :)

After seeing the review I would never buy it at any price :)

Won't most speakers in this price bracket use similar components? I am not a DIY expert but some explanation regarding writing these off is welcome.

I really like the way the Alpha B1s sound, and would like to know what other speaker manufacturers do better to make you think these guys are doing it wrong.

would be novice to see the innards of many popular speakers. The other day i came across an advert for selling Paradigm Monitor 6.5 inch woofers for $50 odd.. just makes you wonder at the margins the manufacturers and distributors make in the name of brand.

85% of the volume is sponge !!

this is OT so i leave it at that.

Ouch .... The Crossover looks like it was made by a 18 year old high on crack. :ohyeah:

One of the sole reasons I advocate - Crossover Upgrades. as most of the budget speakers have crappy crossovers with substandard components.

This really disappoints me.

@Flash: You open up a lot of speakers, are all/most entry levels this shabbily done? If yes why would they continue to serve nice (perceived nice we'll call them going forward) for years on?

Lets dissect the Paradigm Titans this weekend and see what we find inside shall we? Any other members ready to let their entry level gear go under the knife... err screwdriver I mean ;) ?

this speaker is not the higher end for sure and hence cant be compared with such.
Also true, does not use the best of components, and body is combination of plastic & MDF.

But, this is a good speaker for the budget minded. Stereophile does not recommend a speaker unless there is something in it.

the major flaw in this speaker is that it distorts at high volumes, which is not really a problem for surrounds

what i am looking for is if a better speaker is available at this price

well surprisingly most speakers upto the 80k - 100k mark have pretty crappy crossover components.

Thats why a crossover upgrade can do a world of good. However its not cheap and can cost upward of 5-7.5k on the mod.

Even the crappiest components can last for years. I have a vintage Pioneer which has one hell of a crappy crossover ... 20 years and still going strong..

The world of difference it can bring to the same loudspekaer is phenomenal.
FM viki can give testimony to this :indifferent14:

There is a saying. If it ain't broke dont fix it.

You like the sound of the Titans .... Enjoy them .... :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

There are a lot of folks who have done Crossover upgrades on speakrs like Totem, Klipsch etc .... a google search will give you results....

It will set your brain into overdrive.

Ok right now I have an Alpha B1 on my desk blasting Sinead O'Connor courtesy Flash :)

So now I can comment better.

Yes the front grille is metal, back is very solid plastic. Since these are not mine, I ain't opening them. To me the built seems solid, innards might be a different ball game.

But, this is a good speaker for the budget minded. Stereophile does not recommend a speaker unless there is something in it.
After listening to plenty of Wharfedales and Polks I've started keeping my salt shaker handy, just in case. But I am liking what I am hearing through these.

I don't hear any distortion with the NAD C356 at 9:30 position which is waaay to high IMO. And Sinead with the high pitched Mandinka should have distorted by now. So I can safely say this is not a problem at least with this pair I am listening to.

Yes there are a few options at around this price point. I'd state my favorites, I am sure other FMs would have their sub 20k favorites as well. In fact there's a dedicated thread for these.

1. You get the fiercely competitive Paradigm Atom Monitors (Please search for any leftover v.6) at 17k.
2. The lovely MS Aviano 2 are some of the best 20K speakers available here.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.eg.CA S30 got 5star & praise from most of the listeners, still it uses basic CO.-

As long as the final sound is good,do we really have to consider?
Well Tannoy F1 has little crossover I thing.

See B&W DM303 CO-

I think that the only low end components that I see there are the caps so maybe they subscribe to the school of thought [and they wouldn't be alone in thinking this] that caps do not sound different.
As for the simplicity of the x-overs, if the drivers were to be good [read: well behaved] why would there be a need for complex x-overs - there would be nothing to tame.
Just my 2 paise's worth.
