hi,
my current setup is wharf dia 10.1 and a sansui a-5 amp.. the source is a laptop (no usb dac or soundcard)..
i also happen to have this qinpu q2 amp.. now this is primarily supposed to be headphone amp i guess, but when i use my senn hd 439 and docked ipod with this, the volume is low till even at 50% level.. and beyond 50% i get distortion.. the senn/ipod works much better with this fiio e11 that i have (at 25% vol it is pretty good)
i have tried the headphone out of the qinpu as a line out and fed it to the sansui amp (laptop>qinpu> sansui>wharf) and they sound ok..
now all the reviews i read about the qinpu says that is it a rather ok headphone amp; which i did not find to be great.. but i wonder if it is actually a headphone out or a line out to a powered sub or speakers (this q2 also has a provision for attaching speakers so maybe this could actually serve as a preout for a sub)
or is it that the headphones i use doesnt match the headphone out (senn hd 439 has imp of 32 ohms) some review said that it works well with low impedence headphones
also when i connected my wharfs to the qinpu, the sound was fairly good.. had a nice warm tone but lacks the punch of the sansui (qinpu is 2.5 w;sansui is 30w)
so,
should i use the qinpu as a preamp (source>qinpu>sansui>speaker).. will that actually keep the warm sound of the qinpu or will the line out from the qinpu lose its character when plugged into anoher amp?
or should i use it as a preamp for my fiio headphone amp (source>qinpu>fiio>headphone)?
or should i just pack it and shove it under the bed:sad:
