Hi Guys,

I hope m going in right direction and hence wanted advice from all experienced gurus..

looking for 55" + may be between 60" - 65"

1) Room size : w12ft X L20ft
2) Have opted for Plasma instead of LED, as plasma will get me natual picture quality along with good motion ratio and side angle viewing and toughen glass as compared to sensitive LED screen.
3) As far as demos and articles (best-3dtvs.com) 63"-65" will be ideal for my viewing distance as mentioned my room size above, though there will be few sitting in between at distance of 8-10ft

Have shortlised Panasonic as first pref then Samsung.

Panasonic - Viera TH-P65VT20D (Price on higher side)
Samsung - PS64D8000FR / PS63C7000YR

Kindly let me know all your suggestions and advice....and do let me know if m going wrong anywhere....

Cheers.....
GR..

if you have the budget:

PS64D8000FR or the 65VT30.

I suggest you have a look at the samsung 8 series plasma if there is demo available and wait for the VT30 to get released and have a look at that as well, buy which ever you prefer.

You may also want to consider the 60inch LG PZ 9 series which is a very affordable and excellent plasma tv.

You just cant go wrong with any of the tv's you mentioned as they are simply fantastic in their own rights.

I am also in the planning stage with a similar room (25' x 15')
I have sort of decided to go for a LED 55".
I decided against a Plasma because of Power consumption and wouldn't a 65" Plasma be godawfully heavy?
Another practical option would be a projector but i think it would be high maintenance.
just my 2 cents

Exactly the reasons for you to stay away from buying plasma:), power consumption and weight are the two most critical factors one must consider while buying a tv.

Really...I thought Picture Quality is the Critical Factor above everything:rolleyes:.

From what I have seen: The majority of people just want a cool TV they can brag about, look awesome in the living room and should be able to play all their pirated downloaded DivX/MKV files through USB

Not many people have the "trained eyes" to make out the differences between various panels/models etc.

In a way I envy them, buying decisions should be so easy! For those of us who are finicky, it is a never ending hell of weighing pros & cons always having the self doubt if you have finally made the right decision.

Bottom Line: You always Lose :D

I still remember splurging 90k for my 2nd computer a PII with Voodoo card and a week later the PIII came out:mad:

Jay5150,

The answer is simple. EVERYONE wants only great picture quality as the No.1 requirement. Many guys many not be trained to validate the quality of the picture but this is what they want. Nobody buys a TV simply to "brag about" which is having stupid picture. No arguments on that. Thanks.

Yeah sure how many people can recognise actual good picture quality. Its all very subjective. Thats why the showrooms always have flattering lighting, HD source streamers and change all the settings to artificial levels to show bright colorful picture which wouldn't be case once the poor sod takes the TV home.

Nobody brags about a poor picture, but they would brag about the size of the screen, large picture ( no other screens at home side by side to compare), the sound quality, and the "sleek" looks.

And of course you couldn't get a guy who has spent more than a lakh and half on his TV to admit maybe his TV ain't good! ;)
