Hi all,

I have a technical question. I have D2H connection HD box V7000. The STB has a USB port and I have connected a USB pen drive to it. It gets detected and through settings I can format it to FAT32.

There’s a Recording option on the remote. When I contacted Customer care, they say there’s no recording facility. Looks like either they do not know what is really available or there’s some disconnect.

However I am able to record and play the content on the same STB thru My Library or similar option under settings.
But there’s a weird issue. The very first recording after power on is not getting authenticated. It says Authentication failure and the file is auto deleted. All subsequent recordings are fine though.

Is anyone else facing the same issue? I have already done master reset but that did not help. The behavior is the same.
I don't know what else to try. I tried using another pen drive but that did not help.
Thx

Earlier when I used to have Airtel DTH the STB had recording facility and airtel charged Rs.50/per month for enabling the recording facility. If you are thinking of recording the content through USB and playing it elsewhere it is not possible as they will be encrypted. As you have mentioned it can be played through the `Library'. Maybe the authentication failure is because the provider has not enabled the recording facility. You need to check with their technical team.

@mathan
Thank you for your reply. I know that it's DRM protected and cannot be played elsewhere.
The thing is if Recording would have never happened or would have always failed then I would have understood that it requires subscription.
but it works perfectly 8 out of 10 times and just fails ones or twice. So I am not sure where the issue is. I have already done full master reset of the STB but that did not help.
Customer care does not know anything. They say they can't take any request as there's no issue.
Hence I am checking if any other users or on same D2H V7000 STB are facing the same issue.
When I say My Library, it's a setting within the Interface inside which I see all my recordings and browse thru it and select and play back.
