Recording through Audacity..

Thanks souravin, mostly I listen to vinyls so dont know much about digital players. I downloaded flac player and checked eddie's samples.

I am not audio/electronics engineer. So give merit as such. At first listen the sample doesn't sound right but not bad either. I listened flac as well as flac to wave converted file. But please remember it was through my PC and Creative speakers. In Adobe audition levels seems right but in my opinion little clarity is missing. So out of curiosity, I corrected the sample and am uploading again. Three filters were used. One was very low sensitivity clicks removal. Give review if anyone likes it or not and guess what changes were made. It would be fun. Mind you eddie I am learning with you. Here is online playable upload.
Testing Waters :)
Regards.

Hey! Thanks for taking the effort. Please try the second downloadable clip on VLC. I thought it is quite detailed and the clarity, i thought, was alright.
I notice, in your version, an immediate lessening of the noises, but I felt a litlle numbing of the mids and the bass. The high notes seemed unaffected. I have no idea what changes you introduced. Hopefully experts with more discerning ears can comment on both the clips.
Thanks for helping me with this experiment.
Ta!

eddie, for past week I am struggling with airtel, who are strugling to find out why I have only 1% alive broadband connection. It is very frustrating. It is tough to have it stay up long enough to load a web page, let alone download anything.

However, let me repeat, as general advice, that no special ears are needed to know if you are doing it right: it should be really difficult to tell the difference between playing the LP and playing the file.

It is very difficult, though, to do general noise removal (other than reducing the impact, at least, of specific scratches) without also impacting the music. If you do this kind of stuff, you might then more easily be ably to identify file against disk.

Offtopic, this has encouraged me to get back into exploring the world of soundcards with a Juli@, although that is not possible at the moment as no cash is available even for modest hifi buying. I'm betting it would be at least as good as my ODAC! of course, Expectation bias rules :o

Checked second clip with VLC player. yes it seems it has more clarity. Don't know why ? Could software influence recording ? I guess so, but not sure.

As for my clip You are absolutely right. I did cleaned the noise. sample taken from initial few silent passage. Other filter I applied was "stereo expand" :) I think it increases channel separation. All filters applied very conservatively.
Regards.
