i have just got a 55"3D LED TV (setup pic posted earlier) and therefore want to test its 3D capabilities
i'll 1st list down what i have as sources++
1-Sony BDP 360 -region C
2-Tvix 6500
3-xbox 360
4-pioneer 410
5-2 3D goggles (with TV)
6-Onkyo 609-

My options are
1-get the sony 3D package (region C) which consists of PS3,2 glasses,4 titles -Rs 30 k
2-go for seperate 3d player(region free) +titles -Rs 30-35K +
3-import seperate 3d player +titles - 250$ +

my wants
-Region free player so i can import A,B blus without thinking
-wifi integrated ,DLNA , not wifi ready(which needs additional dongle)
-plays MKV with DTS -HD( good to have but not essential)

since i already have a region C player im ok to import another region A player and il be sorted. This will also save more than 50% of my above cost :licklips:

now i have considered panasonic 210 ,BD 60, Sony 480 ,LG 580 ,LG 370 ,570 and others

does anyone have experience with these and some advice
Should i just go for last option of importing or go with the sony package (i dont really want a ps3 for gaming)

thanks for any suggestions

In your option (1), if you buy the Sony 3D package (30K), you will get a Region C player and not Region A. Sony players are most difficult, if not impossible, to mod. Stegen Elec asked me to ship my Region A Sony BDP-S360 to them for modifications. In my honest opinion, option (1) is not a good option.

My suggestion to you will be to import a region free player.

I would suggest option 2: get a modded Blu -ray player. While I have not seen/tested the 3D capabilities, I would without hesitation get the Oppo BD93, which will come inside your budget.(30-35k)

There are a couple of shops in the US selling Modded Sony's.Yes, they seem to be the most difficult to mod....

just4kix ye its region C sorry was typo ,where is this stegen and how much do they charge for the modding?might not be relevant since i want the 3D also .so i'll buy a new one anyway

Akhil hehe.even i had an eye on the free avatar 3D disc ,if you note i had listed panasonic 210 as the 1st one .but thru 20 north i doubt if we will get the disc as i have checked the aramex option .they need the slip posted and US residency ,o po box address etc
have you got it .
and that FW tip is good ',thanks

Ya right. Even i doubt on that otherwise i would have bought it already. I didn't find any reason to go for 210 and 310. 110 itself is a great 3D BD player. One of my friend is going US next month. So told him to buy for me. :D

I think the firmware can be used on other similar panasonic bdps as well. Or are they intended for your bdp only?

Am thinking most probably will go for the 210 and send it to a friend in the US who will also organise the Avatar 3d bluray ;-)

EDIT: just checked now on AVs ,apparently it cant do MKvs above 4 GB ,as its limited to FAT 32 .anyone confirm this?

Yes right. In the description you can see the list of players you can use this firmware. But all are North American.
