sam9s HTPC Project! powered by XBMC!!

The next potential upgrade for this machine is an AMD 7750 Low profile. This is the fastest low profile card you can get.

Get hold of a 6850 if you can , its better than 7750 in every aspect, but with the same price, or even less at places .....

Needs a 6 pin connector plus it doesn't come in low profile - means won't work for me. My case only allows a low profile graphic card and has a puny 150W power supply.

All I need this machine is for video playback. I have a 7970 in my gaming rig.

errrrr then in that case why even spent this much GT440 plays every thing including all 3D, and is just 4,5K ..... 7750 would be an over kill for just video playback

madvr is no god, and GT440 is no "meow", I have played 1080p content with madvr perfectly on GT440. madvr is all about pixel shaders and GT440 has enough and fast. The sad part was there was not an improvement I was expecting for. May be i was expecting too much. Infact THIS GUY is running it on GT430.

Any XBMC users with Intel G620 processor? I have assembled a new PC at home with G620 and Intel DH67CL motherboard.

With DXVA2 enabled, XBMC crashes on opening video while the same works fine without hardware acceleration. Is it problem with Intel drivers or XBMC?

I think it is something to do with Intel drivers. Try to update it or look at the google to see if somebody of the same configuration had the same problem.

Thanks

Googled a bit and found that it has something to do with the sandy bridge processors microblocking. Will update the drivers and see if it still persists. As of now installed drivers that came with the motherboard cd. hope those are old drivers.

I presume the same, the drivers might be a bit old. Hope this is resolved for you as on the avsforums.com there are lot of people who have the same combination and run xbmc videos without any issues.

Thanks

Before installing xbmc nightly or alpha version, first backup your movie posters by going to Settings> Video>Library> Export Video Library > Separate. This will backup all your movie details into the same folder as that of the movie. Then install xbmc nightly. It is also recommended to rename your current xbmc folder under program files to say xbmc old. Also backup xbmc roaming folder 'C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\XBMC'. It is under this folder that xbmc stores its database, thumbnails etc. I'm currently using xbmc frodo alpha3 and it works without any problem.

Sorry for the late update. Well i tried what you suggested. Until XBMC nightly installation, it's okay I got all right however after that you have suggested to rename the folder under program files, but when I renamed the folder, the nightly version is unable to find the artwork of previous collection. It's all messed up now. Can you explain step by step installation? Sorry to bother you so much.

Sorry for the confusion. You need to backup the xbmc folders before installing nightly version. Since you renamed xbmc folder after the installation, you won't see artwork. So just undo the renaming.

hi baiju, thanks for prompt reply. I did back up the folder by going to settings in xmbc, but then again renamed the xmbc folder in C drive before installing nightly version. When it was not working I tried to merge the new XMBC folder with the old renamed one in c drive and it all messed up now. I'm trying all this on my laptop before carrying out same in my HTPC. so not much of problem. But before i do the same in in HTPC, can you elaborate a little? sorry again for the this confusion..

Hi,

Have a few question , have a M2N68-AM SE2 Mother board

[]ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 Specs (motherboard - micro ATX - Socket AM2 - GeForce 7025) - Motherboards - CNET Reviews

1:it as built in 100mbps ethernet port is that sufficient for video streaming[from NAS server] or should i go for gigabit pci express network card [Pls recommend which card to go for]
2: it does not have hdmi port , can you pls advice which Graphics card to go for [Low noise , Low Power consumption ]
3: the board as only 2 sata ports , is their a way to add some more sata ports
4: Planning to upgrade the cabinet also , pls suggest a good one [budget 3K - 4K]

Thanks
-BG

1. Its enough for video streaming, however you might face issues on full BD ISO streaming, as they are huge bandwidth hog. Reason you might consider for a gigabit card is not for streaming but for data transfer. Transferring huge 5-10 GB files on a 100mbps is a pain in the neck.

2. Yes via add on sata extender PCI cards. I have posted an example on the first page of this thread
3. silver stone LC-10 might impress you, thought its a full ATX cabinet.

1. From xbmc video settings, export movie library. Use 'separate'. This way all your movie information are copied to the individual movie folders. Each of your movie folder should now contain a .nfo file, a .tbn file and a fanart file with the same name as that of the movie.
2. Forget about renaming or upgrade. Uninstall current xbmc version.
3. Freshly install xbmc nightly. I suggest frodo alpha 3 build. It has less bugs than nightly versions.
4. Update movie library. Information will be automatically fetched from the exported files.

Hell sam and others,

My existing hardware is
Processor: Dual core
MOB: Intel G 41 R
RAM: 2 gb DDR2
I ball cabinet: 400W

I installed Gt 440 1GB DDR3 Graphic card, but after that, system is not booting up. Even after removing the graphic card, system did not booting. You may please let me know what might have gone wrong.

SMPS. Get a branded SMPS like corsair. Your iball smps may not be able to supply the required power.
Can you see the activity LEDs blinking while switching on? Does the fans work?

@GVRAVI, did you make sure that your system was booting before yo plugged in the card, coz seem unlikely that just plugging and then simply unplugging will create such a problem. Need few more details like as baiju said, activity light?, fan working, anything on screen .....
