Samsung 2012 PS43E470 review - The budget performer.

GR8 to see someone finally buy an LG Plasma.. have seen 42PA4520 and it looked good... didnt find it different from another Full HD model from 8-10 ft.

Have also seen couple of more LG models 50PA6500 & Pentouch - found them decent as well. Congrats again...:clapping:

Thanks Rajat and RG1. :-)
Am pretty happy with the TV. The colour rendition is, IMO, not as good as the samsungE470, but in all other aspects this just kicks ass. The clarity is just amazing, will try and post a pic of the TV playing a Potter film (dvd rip) from the USB. You can count the weave on the curtain behind in a scene. Just love it. Fully beginning to appreciate what HD is now. (my earlier CRT tv had component input)
Am being careful for the first 100 hrs as recommended by some people for plasmas and running her on low contrast and brightness setting.
The sound is good, not great.. will need a proper sound amplifier and speakers added to it at some point.
The fit and finish is outstanding though.

Can you also shed some light on your experience of watching SD/HD channels (Cable/Tata Sky etc) on a Plasma TV vs LCD/LED if you had one before... another person mentioned that they are not finding it very good to watch SD channels on 50" Plasma...

Bought Samsung 2012 PS43E470 today at 36 K. This is their SRP. Ask any dealer about SRP and he will be a bit surprised. Installation going on currently. Hope it will be great vieing for London Olympics.

@UKNIM

any issues playing content from the USB drive? I see a few posts mentioning that.

Also, what are the pros and cons of the TV (resolution is 1024 x 768 , is that a problem? ). I am seriously considering buying the e470 (within budget, unavailability of panasonic plasma). I need more opinions before buying. please advice :-)

Congrats for your new purchase. Your tv wont support 1 TB HDD because you have only 1 USB.
WD Passport 1TB HDD with USB Y cable needs atleast 2 USB (one USB for power and the other USB for data).
Try with friends HDD's which has external power supply. Hope this might work.:)

My Seagate 1TB HDD has one USB cable only. Newer disks no longer require separate USB for power. There could be other limitations that may prevent support of such a disk.

However the problem with 1TB disk (even if supported) is that it will take a very long time to read the contents.

I tried my friend's 160GB external HDD and it was also not detected. I hence concluded that this TV cannot address memories greater than 32gigs.

Hi Guys
I finally went and bought the LG pa4520.
Just one day down, so hardly anything to share in terms of feedback/review... but the picture quality is amazing. A friend who has a 40inch Sony bravia came over and was sure the pic quality is better on the plasma. :-)

More when i experience it fully.

cheers

I'm glad you picked plasma over LED............good choice!!!

Can anyone please tell me where i can buy the 43e470 in Bangalore....no body seems to have it in stock.

On the whole, you are right. It is better to have an external powered HDD. But my Seagate HDD has no external power and has one USB wire only. It works well on 0.5A, I guess.

Which type of external speaker should I buy for E70. I m now thinking to buy this TV.
Has someone found any other typical issue on this TV??

^^ Issues : cannot play HDD and highly reflective panel

Apart from those, very good TV. even the sound is good (more than what i expected)

Hi i want to have some urgent info regarding Samsung 4 series Plasmas please

Most of them including ps43e470 have resolution of 1024X768.

All HD content 720P or 1080P has length/width ratio of 16:9= 1.77 and same ratio resolution. e.g Full HD 1920/1080 = 1.77 or 1366/768

But this series resolution is 1024/768= 1.33 i.e of CRT tvs/monitors 4/3=1.33

So if you run 720p or 1080P content in it does it show black bars on top and bottom??

i really need this info on urgency please. thanks.
