News is trickling in on Samsung plasma line-up for 2013. Topline F8500 will be available in 51, 60 and 64 class screen sizes. Some websites claim voice & gesture controls missing in this model.

QUOTE:
Designed to become the new industry standard for plasma TV excellence, Samsung promises the F8500 offers the ultimate in picture quality with the deepest blacks and the brightest picture available. In fact, the F8500 delivers the same brightness levels and eight times the black expression of regular LED TVs, thanks to new luminance enhancements and Samsungs proprietary Deep Black Algorithm and Real Black Pro II for improved black expression. The F8500 is also one of the first televisions with native support for HEVC-encoded content.

The F8500s unique design is a mix of aesthetic and functional aspects. Its One Body Form design is created using a single piece of metal. The futuristic design is highlighted by the TVs dark titan metal colour, an ultra-slim frame, naturally curved lines and a unique square-shaped stand, making it appear more like a work of art rather than a TV. It will be available in 51, 60 and 64 class screen sizes.

Will have to see how plasma stand up before the OLED and 4K TVs. And just4kix is quite right. Panasonic leadership in Plasma TV segment is unchallenged at the moment.

However, it appears that with the PS51F8500 and PS64F8500, Samsung has taken this to a whole new level. The Korean company claims that its new plasma TV range for 2013 sports now just the deepest blacks available, but also the brightest picture. It quantifies this by asserting that the F8500 gives the same brightness level as its LED TVs such as the Samsung F8000, but with eight times the black expression read, dark detailing and black levels. Its helped along here by Samsungs proprietary Deep Black Algorithm and Real Black Pro II

Hi,

Please share the 2013 samsung plasma models for India and the pricing if available.

These are the other models which I got from sites:

F4500 - 720p plasma
F4900 - 720p and 3D
F5000 / 5500 - Full HD

Thanks,
Sunil

^The flagship model from Samsung is F8500. US price is Rs. 1.1 lac for 51".
The other models are F5500 (dual core), F5000 (no 3D) and F4500 (HD only).

Very weird that Samsung has kept the same model number for LED as well as Plasma in Europe.
e.g. F8500, F5500, F5000 are both plasma and LED models.

Now, F8500 plasma is comparable to Panasonic VT-50.

On F8500, it seems there would be a quadcore processor which not only enhances the smart functionality but also might lend its hand to the video processing.
The display looks very bright and colorful on a cnet video.:licklips:
But a lot of reflections could be seen on the screen. Hope this is only because of too much brightness in the CES show.

If Panasonic does not assure the world that it will continue Plasma business and release their flagship ZT60 in India, there is absolutely no reason why Panasonic fans would not consider to go for this beauty.

Just like Samsung taking the crown from Sony in LCD, Samsung might be doing the same with Panasonic in the plasma segment. Going by Samsung's aggressive approach, I won't be surprised if they continue with the Plasma production for catering to a small segment of video/movie enthusiasts even if Panasonic shuts it's plasma production. In fact they have the liberty and finance to do so in adding one more crown to their brand name.

Very much possible...

F series has already been launched.. both in LED and Plasma.. but only upto 43" in Plasma and 46" in LED..

Only the basic/ lower range has been introduced, I think the higher range will follow soon...

Only the F4100 range has been introduced for Plasma and only one size 43", priced 33,900/-

The advertisement released TOI-Mum edition is in the link below.

In LED, F5100 (Full HD) in 3 sizes 32", 40", 46" & F4100 (HD) in 32" has been introduced.
The 32" of the both the LEDs are priced 35900/- & 31900/- respectively.

This is good news indeed. I am thoroughly impressed by their 8 series plasma TVs! Will buy again if i get a chance.

"Panasonics plasma TVs dont have any shortage of strong points, but black level is probably the most widely acknowledged and promoted out of these. Their plasmas absolutely destroy the competition in terms of black level performance, and unlike an LED LCD TV, this black level performance is not achieved at the expense of dulling other areas on screen. That means that on HDTVs like the Panasonic TX-P42ST60, jet-black areas can be shown on screen simultaneously with incredibly bright whites."--HDTV test.
