Samsung 2013 Plasma TV's

I just got myself a 51" F5500.. Enjoying it..Still not got time to calibrate it as i read that the factory calibration is not great.. The screen suffers from reflections in a bright environment, but overall been happy..I need to get to figure out the extended warranty bit as well. Bought a 3000 model camera and need to set that up as well..

Congrats Rangaraj.. welcome to the club. It is the best VFM TV of the year. I am enjoying the TV. Specially size and PQ is really excellent. Only downside as you have said it the reflection, which is not an issue for me as I have no wall or light that might create problem.

Currently I am using the Standard mode with almost 85-90 contrast and 55-60 bright. Colour level as per your wish. I am happy with this. But frankly speaking you may need to tweak these settings based on the input like BD, SD, and also even within BD, mobies with bright and dark pictures need a bit of tweaking. Do let me know if you have found a magic setting ;)

BTW, TV speakers are real lousy ones. A real dampener.

Booked the 64F8500 today . Plasma . Very very happy . 1.86 with installation , wall mounts , 4 3d glasses and 3 years warranty under samsungs current promotion . Plus I got 15 EMI scheme with 0% interest and 0% processing fee . TV will be delivered on Monday

Congrats,

Please tell the final price you paid

Congratulations. It is wrong to say that factory settings are very poor. But they are generally meant for the typical and average situation. If you have a DVD or BD player, you can download and burn the calibration disc and run it to adjust the minute settings suitable for your environment.

Yet to see the ST60 series in person. So can't comment. But I think brightness should be at par with that or may be a tad higher. But is any case ST60 is a higher range comparable may be to 51F8500 (not released in India).

64F8500 is in a different league. But if you are expecting LED type highly bright outcome from any plasma, I think it will be next to impossible and that is true across the brands. But if you want bright displays then look for that in plasma. Just go directly ti LED only. And for that Sony 9 series and Samy 8 are really great one to grab, but they are very costly.

I got mine (51F5500) for 65K and am happy with it.

Congrats GAUTAM for booking the best plasma you can buy so far in India.

I came across Sammy 51f4900 for 62K here in Hyderabad. 2 3D glasses free. Is it a good buy. I already own a Samsung 40" LCD which i am planning to dispose off and get a plasma instead.

Thanks in advance.

I saw it. I could easily perceive discrete dots even from considerable distance which was irritating may be because of the set's poor resolution.
For a 51 inch one should definetly go for 1080p resolution. With this density of pixels, one would see a smooth picture.

Is anyone aware fo extending samsung plasma warranty? The dealer was not very clear about extension. Will it cover everything similar to standard 1 year warranty.

It is an extension of the standard one year warranty . I purchased my 64f8500 during the Independence Day promotion where they offered free extended warranty . I got 1+ 2 years free . There are no clauses . Its the same as the first year warranty .

I paid 1.86 lakhs . Got 3 years extended warranty , plus Samsung branded wall mount specially for this heavy TV . All this at no extra cost . Plus got finance offer also , no processing no interest .

They did not have it on Display and told will be available within few weeks and price quoted was 76K.
Displayed only 1 plasma model 43F4100 and all other models were LEDs.
