Samsung 2013 Plasma TV's

These are the shops which I know to check for Samsung Plasma in Bangalore.

1) Samsung brandshop (koramangala)
2) Devi International ( Jayanagar)
3) Modern World ( Domlur)
4) Adishwar ( enquired in Sarjapur road branch. I found the response was better than the Brandshop)

Please help with any other good dealers (around Koramangala, Sarjapur road, Jayanagar etc )
I could not find any plasma models in stores like Unilet and Pai international etc.

Hi,

Apologies in advance for the really long first post...

I bought the 43F4900 Plasma last Saturday from e-Zone, Phoenix Market City, Pune. I specifically mentioned that I would not accept a display unit under any circumstances and that I would be checking the model during installation.

I happened to visit the store again on Sunday afternoon, and the display piece was missing. I reiterated that I would not accept a display unit. As I was walking out the store, I saw the same model box being readied for delivery (along with other TVs), but couldn't get close enough to view the box in any detail. I enquired and they said that unit was not meant for me.

Two hours later the TV arrived. It looked like the same box and was accompanied by the same other TVs I saw in the store.

What first aroused my suspicion was the lack of any company seal on the top of the box. There was only regular tape. There seem to be conflicting reports about this - plus two friends also bought the same TV. One said there was a seal and the other says there wasn't.

Today, the Samsung guy came by to install the TV. As soon as he removed it from the box, I started checking for the usual indicators of a display model:

1. There did seem to be a lot of dust around the vents
2. There was a long scratch along the back just under the top vent.
3. The area where the mounting bracket slots into the TV seemed to be discoloured - but I don't know if this is significant.
4. The mounting screw threads do appear to have some wear on them, but I can't be sure.
5. Fingerprint smudges were all over the back panel, along with some kind of stains on the plastic
6. Dust in corners of tv plus the TV is to be sealed at the bottom corners. Is this usual?
7. No plastic sheet covering the glass.
8. Turned on the TV and accessed the service menu (Info>Menu>Mute>Power On). Panel display hours is displayed as 26 hours (please see attached screenshots).

I called the store to complain and was given the usual drivel about testing before delivery, ignorance about the service menu options and that dust usually creeps in through the handle holes.

Anyways, I am seeing the manager about this tomorrow... but, seeing as the number of hours used is only 26, I am wondering whether to pursue the matter (too much hassle), though it looks to me as if it's a display unit. On the other hand, a new unit should not be in such condition IMO...

Am I reading too much into this? Or does the shoe actually fit? Suggestions please?

My opinion is that it could definetly be a display piece. But not very old one.
Many of the small showroom guys won't keep even a single piece extra.
They display a piece and pack the same.

Hi.. Since you have specifically asked the dealer for a new piece and been very clear about not wanting a display piece.. And the dealer was prompt in giving a damn to it.. I think you should give the guy a good time.. Ask him for a 5 to 10k discount.. And a bluray player.. And even better scream at him on front of all the ppl who want to buy any piece of electronic there.. I'm not against the shopkeeper making a deal.. But he shouldn't be making you look like a fool after being so clear... All the best..

It is very ridiculous to hear big shops like ezone is doing such nasty thing to the customers. If they don't have any fresh stock they should have made that clear to the buyer instead of giving a used TV.

I will do what Gautham suggested, irrespective of me ok or not ok with display piece, as specific request was made for a non-display piece.

26 hrs is OK. If the hassle is too much, you can keep it. One thing sure it has not been manhandled. But I will better say try to negotiate for a settlement by either asking for a discount or may be free gift of something like a BD player. Anyway, call is yours.

Mate, It is not about the low hours, its about the honesty in the transaction after you having being specific about a new piece.

You should give him a piece of mind so that he doesnt feel encouraged to repeat similar thing with other customers.

Start with a replacement piece and let him offer any goodies...then decide which one to atke if you wish to retain this piece...

And not to irritate you.. Please let me know how you found the usage hours.. Regular remote or smart remote? I'm stuck with how to find it using a smart remote..

So I went to the store today and spoke to the manager. I had already visited on Tuesday and chewed them out for delivering a display model (no matter how old) . Anyways, I was all prepared to rant at the manager too, but they had already agreed to provide me with a new piece (albeit in 4-5 days).

They also told me that I could use the current TV (without wall-mounting it) until they delivered the replacement. I wonder if this is a ploy on their end to somehow renege on the new piece at the last moment. It's certainly tempting :).

Coming back to the point, so far I'm satisfied (if a little annoyed), but I will be escalating the matter if it takes longer than 4-5 days to get the replacement. Hope this does not turn out to be the case.

Good you worked a deal out.. Not to scare you.. But just in the likelihood of something going wrong.. Probably a scratch mark or even a flicker.. The fear of they telling me that it can't be replaced.. I would send the used one right back.. Again.. It is me.. I'm a bit paranoid..

And that's why it's still sitting in its box. I don't want to jinx it just because I can't wait a few days...

I came across Sammy 51f4900 for 62K here in Hyderabad. 2 3D glasses free. Is it a good buy. I already own a Samsung 40" LCD which i am planning to dispose off and get a plasma instead.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Leo, Excuse me, I bought a Samsung Plasma 51F4900 yesterday. I go to the Service Menu (by pressing Info, Menu, Mute, Power On) to see the Panel Display Time but I was changing a number in that menu. Can U help me to change the number to basic?
