Its now 2 years or so...

But offlately i have got a semi circular black patch on the right side of the panel..

I tried to massage the area .. heard that sometime these Liquids might displace and bring back the original colors.. but didnt help

now i am also having patched lines...

here are some pics

As for thsoe patched lines

I tried to take pics , but dont know whehter it will be visible for u guys..

i tried my best .. here it is...

as u can see .. half way i the image .. there is a color difference .. the patched lines start ffrom there ..
If the lines are through out the screen .. i wouldnt have given a thought .. but these patched lines are here and there over the screen
I am using PS3 via HDMI for video .. but even if i connect it to my PC via HDMI the results are same.. more over the images/patched lines / the dark semi circle are visible in all inputs .. ie even in cable too ...

Have you called customer care? If you have, did that offer any solution (other than replacement of the whole panel).

no i didnt .. i thought will there be any solution i might try and ask for professional help..
If so , how much would it be .. the panel ?

There are two possible reasons, either some component on one of the boards is fried or the panel is gone.

Best bet is to let technician diagnose the boards since those are relatively chap to fix. If the can't diagnose, they insist on replacing the panel itself. Cost of panel is almost same as TV.

yeah ok.. i think i will give them a call and let u guys know

If its the panel which is gone what are my options here ? i just want to know ...

i mean i got this for around 75k or something ...

so what to do if he says panel is the one which has to be replaced ?

Please check you warranty card. I would not be surprised if the panel has a 5 year warranty.

Cheers

Samsung,Sony and LG offer only 1 year warranty. The fault is mostly in the panel.
If they replace the panel it won't be cheap will cost around 25k or upwards and the panel which they used in 07 whixh has poor contrast, viewing angle compared to 3 generations ahead 2010 tech.
So i would rather spend the money on a new tv with far better image processing and lcd panel.

Which brand / model comes with 5 year warranty on panel? This info would be useful.

I have a Sansui TV that has a 5 year warranty on the CRT. I also have a Akai 32 incher that has a 5 year warranty on the panel. I recently purchased a 42 inch LG that I paid extra to get a four year warranty on the whole unit. I think I paid 10,000 more.

Cheers

@adder

yeah it has the worst contrast ratio and worst quality... could find fault , coz its a 07 model...

tom only have to call the tech guy

will check into the waranty and as someone said , 5 yrs warranty on panel is very slim...

If thats the case then is there any way i can sell this ? or a buy back offer ? anything available .. even though i cant get a new one for atleast 4 months or so...

oh, that means no mainstream brand offer 5 years warranty without buying additional warranty.

With LG, cost of 5 year warranty is 30% of cost of TV, which is quite steep.

Nowadays all companies make products that last only 2-3 years.
Why are they releasing the products to market before the technology is fully mature ?
Are we crazy to buy new TV every 2-3 year.
"Paisa kya ped mae ugtha hai"

^^ simple

they invest crores n crores in developing those technology

and even if they are half baked but somewhat workable , they release to gain the early market and show they are the leaders in xyz technology amd others follow

i still cant believe that my LCD jsut lasted 2 or so yrs .. CRT were way better IMO...

How is LED guys ? is it trustable , i mean years of working ?

or any TV which is currently good / technology which looks promisiing .. as with current situation stands , i might have to ditch the current one and get a new one .. may be in few months ....

LED is just another LCD TV in terms of technology. So do not expect it to last more than 3 years. Anything more would be a bonus.

No current technology comes close to CRT in terms of longevity.

Yes, have see 3 - 4 years old Plasma panels going kaput.

With CRTs, max expense used to be blown capacitors that could be fixed for couple of hundreds.

Thats absolutely true statement. May be its outdated technology but its proven about durability. I have seen average life of CRT is ~ 15 years. Atleast I havent seen any of my friends' or relatives TVS got bad (major issues) within last 10 years. May be thats the reason I own 3 CRTs. oldest being 17 years still capable of outputting very good PQ out of HD source through WDTV composite (obviously limited to CRT resolution).

Now I am not against any new technology or orthodox. But my only stake is CRT in almost 25 years has been matured & stable. Its pretty much initial stage for flat panels. So I dont want to put my hard earned lots of money in supporting experrients for the tech companies.( My uncle's LCD went kaput in just 3 years for which he paid 1lakh that time. So its like 33K paid for each year. He now settled with 29 LG CRT)

Again this is my personal view and I equally respect indivisual decisions of others who bought flat TVs out of various factors.
