Hey guys,

I just bought recently launched Sansui SMC50FH16X. Everything being good so far apart from a single issue.

It cannot detect any files present in my USB drive (3.0 Sandisk & ADATA). I formatted it in NTFS as well as FAT32 but none to avail.

Any clues what might be the issue here?

Try with some lower capacity drive (4GB should be ideal). May be USB is not powering enough to drive big size HDDs.
If that also doesn't work, talk to seller.

And also make sure that you are looking files through the proper application.
e.g You may not be able to see .mp3 files though video player. You need to go to audio player only.

The manual says it can detect HDD upto 500GB. I wonder what might be the reason then....

try multiple devices if you have. At the very least try 3 of various brands and sizes. If you face same problem then contact the dealer you bought it from, he provides assistance okay otherwise call CC

Sansui sent a technician to replace the PCB, but I didn't want to open it up, within 15 days of purchase just because USB is underpowered. Meanwhile, found an old 2GB USB 2.0 pen drive lying around, copied a 1.6 GB bluray into it, plugged in and god damn!
It played though with few noticeable jitters!!!! ( I plugged it in via USB extension cable, hope that doesn't matters much)

Have not tried 4GB as of yet.
Now arises a new question, if 500mA is the current the USB 2.0 port draws (as per manual) for each port (it has two of them), shouldn't it support a meager 16/32GB pendrive, let alone 500 GB HDD?
What if I join two USB ports into one via Y cable and then plug the HDD? Will that work?

According to spec of your Sansui, it has two USB ports. I don't know the schematic. If 2 USB ports are connected to a single header; using 'Y-cable' won't make any difference but if they are connected to motherboard/daughter-board separately, it might help.

Back IN 2008 I bought a tv for 70k after installation the technician found out the remote was not working so he was unable to give demo, next another technician come and opened the tv and found some wire was touching panel that's why remote was not responding. All said I done the tv worked for next 8 years.
Don't be silly nothing happens to tv if a technician opens it they know what they are doing Replace the pcb and enjoy what you actually paid for.

Immediately return the TV mate and ask for refund. I have experienced enough trouble with this brand and this company's customer care. Pathetic and worst. I've blacklisted Sansui brand in my list and never ever purchase it's products nor suggest other people to go for this brand. Try negotiating for some other brand Tv and pay the difference amount.
