Guys,
A quick question on screen cleaning. What solution is best for cleaning the projector screen. I have a grand-view liberty 106 manual pull down. Due to dusty conditions around, there are few patches on screen and im worried this could affect the screen quality.

Please suggest an reliable solution.

thanks.

83 views and no suggestions... all of us would need to clean right... whoever holds a screen..!!

Among the best replies you can get from whom you have bought the screen.

In order to take precaution you can first try a inch of cleaning at bottom of reverse side of the screen so that way you can come to know whether the detergent related is good or no for cleaning.

Give liberty grandview a call and they should be able to help you out . The reverse side is different material

@Vinay, I was advised by Liberty people to use Lens Cleaner on patches (if any) on screen. they did not recommend anything for backside cleaning.

I just want to know if using plain water to clean the screen is a good idea.

I have used plain water to clean patches in my Grandview Matte White screen many times. No problems.

perfect.. thanks rshri.... experience speaks... Let me try small portions and see if that solves.

Water is a strict no no for cleaning any kind of thing you use for viewing.
Water has fine solid particulate matter, dissolved minerals, etc. When the water evaporates these matter are left back on the surface giving rise to marks, patches. If at all you have to use water, use distilled water.
Else a mixture of isopropanol (very good solvent) & distilled water is the way to go (which is used in LCD cleaners available in market). Instead of purchasing expensive LCD cleaners, you could buy a bottle of isopropanol from a chemical shop. They are available as low as Rs.90 a liter. Dilute it with distilled water in 50:50 ratio and use it for cleaning.

As far as the back side of screen is concerned, if the screen is perfectly opaque, water should be fine.

Thanks Ontherocks for your advise.

I have the distilled water which I brought for home battery. Hope this can be used. Let me check on isopropanol. Im sure this is available in all pharmacies..

And yes, last question, once we do the 50-50, can we store them and use them after a month also right....???

In market it is normally referred to as "IP", short from of Isopropanol.

Absolutely no issues with anything of that sort.

The reason why i said was about back side because even if something goes wrong to screen fabric with the attempting cleaning solution then at-least there will be no damage visible on the front side of the screen.

Indeed if screen fabric is different in front and behind then the purpose to test on backside is no material.

It was good you spoke to Liberty.
