Sherwood BDP-5004 from Electronica Direct credibility?

I just placed an order on Mon March07 for "Sherwood BDP-5004 Blu-ray Disc Player" from Shopyourworld.com - Electronica Direct is the seller and the rate quoted by them for a new item was the lowest [I paid Rs 9484/- inclusive of customs duties]. Only 1 item was available in stock. Delivery is in 8-10 days

Tracking my order on "Shopyourworld.com" today tells me that it is still at the merchant's end [order received status]

Now the price quoted today is Rs9400/- + Rs2632/- as customs!! Thats an increase of 2600 in 24 hours!!!

I am worried as I checked the credibility ratings of "electronica direct" and there are many dissatisfied customers. Does anyone else have a positive experience of having dealt with them? Will I get a brand new peice? Will delivery take place !!

Right now @17.15 it is priced Rs8800 - at SYW ....Always check the sellers creidbility/ reputation. Never heard of the dealer you mentioned. Amazon normally has a very good customer service, but as this is "market place" seller, your rights to a refund etc may be compromised.

I see that there are several other models( slightly more expensive) that were displayed on the same page, but in the end, perhaps worth the expense. There are also some ridiculously high priced items (sellers!)

lol.. I got the link from hfv and was so excited. It's 22:47 hrs now and my parcel is still at the "global-merchant" ..... I can't even figure out what my order/reference number is ......... if ever I hv to contact shopyourworld.

SYW got in touch with me on 09th-March at 5:00 pm and told me that the seller had misquoted the price on the day/date I booked..... and now I have to pay Rs 2700/- extra if I still want it.
The earlier seller was not very reliable & now they are offering me directly from Amazon !!!

I told them to still go ahead and update my "cart" in my account.....but no news of this confirmation 24 hrs later.

I am in a fix. Has this happenned to anyone else. I just shot off a mail to cancel this deal.

A very surprising stand by SYW! The price quoted is the sellers problem, once he has defined his price and it has been accepted, it is legally binding. You could ask / report this to Amazon directly: I am sure they will take SYW and the original seller to the cleaners- in more ways than one.

It's a wait and watch game on. My parcel has arrived at Mumbai airport on thursday.... [today is Monday] There is no further communication from SYW with me.

I really do not have the time or inclination to pursue this matter with Amazon. nevertheless, I will report it in due course.

I just recd my Sherwood Blu-ray player BDP-5004 on 14th March. SYW & Amazon kept their word and stuck to the original pricing. So it worked out to Rs 9484/- inclusive of customs.

I AM THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED WITH SYW & Amazon as this was my first deal. I just checked out a DVD - Shawshank Redemption [Amazing clarity]. Now I have to wait until my Blu-ray of "Life (narrated by David Attenborough)" arrives - again booked via SYW & Amazon BUT this time being sent as a "gift" .... so no custom duty
