Should i buy a soundcard??

Guys i got the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi 5.1 surround card today for 3,900 including bill. I plugged in my laptop and used it with my koss headphones and creative 2.1 speakers. the sound was louder though i cudn't make out if it was better. i have still not installed the drivers, just put it in my usb n played. i will download the the drivers and see what difference can be made sound quality wise. It comes with several connectivity options including optical out.

Hi, sunnysharma,

Have you checked the (5.1 audio) performance thro' the optical out

and out thro' AV receiver ?

I plan to use one with my lap top/Home theatre (for downloaded clips)

Thanks in advance.

Similar experience here as well, even after installing all the latest drivers. No distinct stereo imaging or separation, just LOUDER of everything.

Now there is a new X-Fi 5.1 with remote.
