Hi,

I am not sure, if this is right thread-slot for addressing this query. It goes like this.

We often hear mp3 audio from our hi-fi systems with the LCD / TV display turned on for browsing the songs and keep an eye on what's playing. I think most of us will agree, that it is waste of power consumption by keeping a LCD on for about an hour or so, just for the display of title tracks and other info. Is there any other way by which we can attach a small display instead of using the LCD for the display.

Actually I had noticed a thread a year or so back on this very issue, where the topic was discussed broadly and solutions were posted for it. Unfortunately now I do not recollect it. It involved a small TV (probably chinese BW) which doesn't cost a bomb and attaching it to video out from the player, but I am confused as to how can we take out another video out from the player, since the video out is already used by our main LCD TV.

Or are any other options for the above query.

Expecting solutions ASAP

Which player are you using? Does it have HDMI out and composite video out? If it has only one composite out, then an RCA 'Y' splitter can be used to tap the video signal.

Hi Baiju,

I am using the WD MEDIA PLAYER LIVE, which is having HDMI out, and one optical out. There is no composite out in this version. I have connected the HDMI to my Samsung LED TV and the optical cord is connected to the AVR.
So I think I am left with no option. Please comment.

If it has only hdmi out, then you are out of luck. It will be almost impossible to find a small display with hdmi.

u r right..I have a 10 inch display ,chinese one ..with composite input only.

BTW resolution is bad and it was a nightmare setting it on woindows pc..but tried with media player ,,decent results

If you have an AV receiver, then you can connect the HDMI from your media player to AVR and another HDMI from AVR to TV i.e. route the video signal through the AVR. The AVR must be having composite video out too.
But if you dont have an avr or have one without hdmi, then you are really out of luck.
