Sony 40EX710 .

I ordered mine today. Should be delivered tomorrow.
Got really lucky, was planning to get it 2 days back but it got delayed and today Sony has slashed the prices
The 40ex710 is 10k cheaper :D

69900 . good Emi plan where I pay 22% up front and then 14 installments
Also got the bluetooth dongle with it to use the internet video feature

Might have gotten a better deal if I didnt go to the 'big stores', but dont think they would have the same EMi option

I have seen this tv and actually watched a HD movie at my friends place,He got it for 77k during diwali from sony centre. Clarity is good,SD from stb is ok,if you guys gonna pay the most for a particular size then its got to hav the best PQ.The led tvs usb does not play mkvs ,but avi and m2ts worked perfectly

From which shop did you purchase?

i would recommend that go for eyewear less 3d rather than the current day models since they have poor viewing angles in 3d mode....read this somewhere

Screen Format TV: Full / Normal / Wide Zoom / Zoom / 14:9, PC: Normal / Full 1 / Full 2

This is the extract from the SONY site for the 46HX800 model. What I still cannot understand is why SONY shows a display of 14:9, also there seems to be no 4:3 screen display which other brands like Samsung have. Sometimes the wide screen distorts the size and makes viewing( to some) weird. I have recently checked this on an 46EX series, which had similar screen configurations.

Some of the experts on this forum have been dismissive of my bringing up this point, saying it is Typo from Sony and the display is 16:9 and that there is no such screen size as 14:9.
This cannot be the case, since it is mentioned across several SONY models, and I happened to own a 32" Sony in EU afew years back which also had the 14:9 display featured.

Once again there is no 14:9 lcd panel made in LCD tvs. These has been cleared by me and others in this and other forums and i can't keep count of how many times you asked the same question.
This along with all Sony lcds can show 4:3 content.
Choosing any mode other then native format will cause distortions in any tv be it a lcd or a plasma.
I reccomend using either a 4:3 or FULL mode. Some channels look exactly like native 16:9 mode when choosing full mode like UTV world movies,

Dear Adder
Once again I refer you to the SONY INDIA site : please check their specifications ( I have copy pasted the one they have for the HX800 model).

Do you not find it strange that SONY insisits on showing a display of 14:9 across models and years ? I have not been able to get a clarification from them/ their engineers, however it is good to know that you are able to certify their models.

I'll agree with adder here. All their LCD TVs will be 16:9 format. There is no 14:9. This unusual aspect ratio may be accessible through the menu as a picture mode, which when enabled will give you black bars on the side. 16:10 is common in LCD monitors. The other format which Philips had employed was 21:9.

I also find it very strange that SONY is bamboozling gullible people by posting such incorrect information. Their engineers will have reinvented the laws of mathematics if they conclusively prove that a 16:9 aspect is 14:9.
I think this is irrefutable proof that Sony is not the great company everyone takes it to be.

Hi I am purchasing this TV for 68K.
Can any owner of this TV give suggestions ?
Right now i am having Samsung CRT 21inch from last 14 yrs.
Heard a lot about Panasonic Tvs the v20d plasma but was interested in sleek Tv hence going for it.

although late but found this on net...worth reading regarding 14:9

Why 13:9, 14:9, 15:9 aspect markers? at DVinfo.net

hope that would clear the logic behind 14:9

cheers!
