Sony 40EX720 service issue

Between HX750 and W800 I'd suggest HX750 due to better contrast and overall Picture Quality. W800 will be a major downgrade for you PQ wise as the EX720 had outstanding 5000:1 contrast ratio whereas W800 only has 950:1.

dcoolguy - Your best option would be 40HX750 ... Two weeks back, I personally found that the stocks for HX750 are still available across Sony centres ...

as my tv is out of warranty i have doubts about getting free replacement. wat do you guys say ?

I am bit confused now. All the way, I was thinking that you had extended warranty ...:sad: I am sorry it was my mistake in assuming that.
Anyway, I am wondering why Sony is ready to replace the panel free of cost ....

I dont have extended warranty as i told earlier(warranty upto Nov 2012) still he saying 2 years warranty for panel only and tv carries 1 year warranty.

see...the service job paper says out of warranty and service guy lied earlier.

okay ... Even though the service engineer misled you, is sony still ready to give you a 32" TV free of cost ? If so, that's where I am trying to understand the reason behind this generous move from Sony ...

Generally companies would say that they can't help ... but here I am taken back.

service engineer told he will ask sony in written to give you a 32" TV(3d or non 3d didnt specified) free of cost and after approval only will give.
And if i wait for 15-20days then 40" same model free replacement.

okay ... If Sony does that, I will stand up and give applause for Sony. I hope Sony does that for you. Then probably, you can try these in which case it may take some time.

Option#1: Check with Sony if there is a room for buying HX750 with some extra money at some discount. You may have to negotiate on the extra pricing (which may not be less as I though earlier). If you are convinced or okay with the extra price that you have to pay, then go for this option of buying HX750.

Option#2: If option#1 doesn't work out, then simply/blindly accept the 32" inch version (only thing - make sure you get a new piece).

Free or not, I, personally, would not come down to 32" from a 40". It is like a degradation of sorts.

IMO the right replacement for the 40EX720 is the 40HX750 since its a 3d tv or the 40W700 its not a 3d tv but it does have the X-reality PRO.

But AFAIK ,sony only gives 1 year warranty and if they still are trying to replace it even after warranty then i would settle for what ever they are offering.Did you take their extended warranty?

@adder, I didnt took the extended warranty.

got a call from service center and they are saying cant replace tv as cant find same model so they told they will order panel but i refused and instead asked for a new 40" TV equivalent/higher model and pay the balance. They are now considering this and will get a confirmation soon. Hoping of getting a good deal now.

If you didn't watch 3d in your EX720 ,then ask them the 40W700.

AFAIK, sony offers warranty for only 1 year. I think you are lucky here.

^^ Sony offers Extended warranty of 2 years for additional fees. For 40" it is 3K and you can buy it within one year of purchasing the TV.

yes.i am aware of the extended warranty. infact i had got my tv replaced during the extended warranty period.

but dcoolguy has not taken extended warranty and 1 year has been over in his case.

service center rejected my offer of higher model and pay the balance.

now they say will replace panel which will come in a week. But didnt specified free replacement or not. But the service job paper i got from them a month back says no charges so that means free na ?

one thing if they wanted to replace panel from the beginning y wasted 2 months.
