Dear all,

Please help me decide between the above blu ray players, or even any other in the same price range with about 2k difference, I would expect the below out of them:

1. MKV playback
2. Coaxial multichannel out (I found samsung in the same price range doesn't have it, am also confused whether this LG has a 2ch coaxial out - plz check the link: LG BD550 Internet-ready Blu-ray Disc

I think you are referring to 5.1 analogue audio out by saying coaxial multichannel. In AV coaxial output is known as S/PDIF. This coaxial output is a digital output and the ones you are referring to are analogue. Coaxial output and Audio outputs look like the same. These players have only 2ch audio output. To get surround output you will need to connect the HDMI/Optical/Coaxial output to an AVR.

You can buy onida bdp. it has 5.1 analogue output.

are you looking for multiregion or For Region A or Region C player.

india is region C but most of India Blu-ray here are region free, makes sense to go for region A player and source movies from USA or get region free ones.

Sony s380 supports mkv and has Co axial out for digital 5.1. got it for 7.5 K then add a 570 rs step down transformer.

I am using the Sony BDP- S370 and I am happy with it. You can play MKV File from the Front USB.

The only drawback with the player is it supports only FAT 32 so you have to split the MKV file less than 4GB and play.

I own a LG BD550 and happy with its performance. It plays in NTFS/Fat32 formats and also large files. But unfortunately it does not play Divx Plus HD files which I own. I have upgraded the firmware as well but still it does not support.

Who uses divx these times:rolleyes:

Guys, thanks for all your replies.. I bought the Sony BDP S370 and was quite happy with it. I recently purchased Samsung 32" LED TV and found that it is far more better player when it comes to HD DivX play..
The Sony BDP can't play NTFS filesystems and most of the HD Divx files.. but the Samsung TV can play both, also the TV has an optical multichannel out. Now I rarely use my BDP for playing HDD or Flash drives but only disks.
Thanks all.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
