Sony FH-B900 Cassette deck stopping issue

Dear Members,

I own a Sony FH-B900 micro hi-fi system and am facing issues with the cassette mechanism. During playback on both decks, the mechanism loads, but no music can be heard. Interestingly, when I touch the head cable connected to the PCB, I can hear sound through the speakers. Additionally, when I press the forward (AMS) button during playback, I hear a high-pitched fast-forward noise instead of normal playback.

What could be causing this issue?

Hey Stan, on these models the issue lies with a small gear and the belts that run the show behind the scene. They go bad at the same time due to the age of the unit unfortunately. These parts can be found easily online if you search for them. Let me know if you need more information.
