Home Theatre Hunt

My house is being renovated for the first time, and a wall-unit par excellence is ready to receive a 55' Sony W???A TV. I had instructed my contractor to not bother with any arrangements for a speaker system, as I was confident, I'd be going for a sound-bar.

Hunt for Sound Bar
The hunt for sound-bars online was extremely confusing with fairly wide range of opinions for each product. So I started scounting for stores willing to demo the sound-bars. First off it was the Bose 1SR Wireless Sub and it was impressive. Ideal companion for movies I'd think, but the deal-breaker was a serious limitation of its' terminals, and performance with music. Next door was Sonodyne Soundbar, rubbish third-class product justifibly priced at 1/4 that of Bose. So Bose at this point was the lead contender for my wall-panel-unit, but if I'm gonna spend 1.3L for a music system, it will certainly not be before a lot of thought and evaluation.

Hunt for HTiB
Again started off with the Bose' Lifestyle series. Absolutely impeccable quality of surround sound, and more importantly thrashed the 1SR. I doubt if anyone would buy a Soundbar after hearing a Surround HT. Now, the decision was made, it would be a 5.1 HTiB, however my instructions to the contractor were now coming to haunt me. The suspended ceiling, the wall unit are all almost done, and I don't wish to do anything destructive or ugly at this point, hence have narrowed down on the Sony BDV-N9100W, which has wireless rear speakers. Its' not a music product folks, rather more of a lifestyle product. Convenient and competitively priced too - 49K online stores. Another option is the Samsung HT-E6750, very highly rated by online reviewers.

Inputs
Please share your thoughts on the last two products N9100 & E6750, especially so if you took a demo of the same.

Don't waste your money on Sony and Samsung. They are good for Video products segment not for audio. The products you mentioned can not decode Dolby or DTS (HD) sound from external source like a HD DTH channel, downloaded video files BD/DVD players Laptop computer. Once the internal BD player stops working the entire unit and the speakers are useless.
If you are interested in Home Theater you should better look for Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo AVR and speakers from Boston Acoustics, Wharfedale, Tannoy. There are many options. With a 50k budget you can get a very HT system.
But first tell us what is your room size?

My living room is L shaped, with the following dimensions - 14x14 + 7x10. There is another 10x8 sized patio adjoining the dining area but it's separated by a door. I would be using my HT for the following :

Movies on DTH - 25%
Sports and Music on DTH - 25%
PS3 - 10%
HiDefintion Music (West. Classical, Rock, Blues) - 15%
Movies on BD - 10%
MP3 Music - 10%
News and other SD programming will fill the rest.

My budget is about 75K, but should include an AVR, Front Speakers, Center Speaker, BD player and a Sub. Looking for a 3.1 as it'll fit nicely with the decor. Surrounds will be added later.

My online only research is leading me to this:

Yamaha RX-V473 + Wharfedale 10.1 Diamond BSS. The reason I am going with bookshelf speakers instead of floor standing ones is beacuse the unit is almost 80% done, and spans the entire area. Placing Floorstanders on a 18" high unit may look odd. What would I miss going for a BSS instead of FSS.

Note: Post below has gone astray from the topic.

(Almost) Final Decision
Visited The Shop at Andheri East, and auditioned Klipsh RF II 42, Wharfedale 10.7 and Paradigm Monitor 7 connected to a Denon 2113. After carefully listening to a few songs I kept coming back to the Paradigms, as I found them to be highly balanced in their output, and loved the coverage of freqs. Never knew Hotel California has so many tracks :).

So the final choice is Paradigm Monitor 7 series and within that series, the Monitor 7 (x2) + Center 1 + Surround 1 (x2). I haven't auditioned the Monitor 9 + Center 3 + Surround 3 combo, but I'm willing to stretch if it fits the needs of my room detailed in my previous post.

Seek your valuable advice desperately...

Don't step on the gas. Now,since Bose is out of your mind, you are in the right track.
Just tell how much have you stretched your budget upto?

I saw lg9350/9530 in addition to Sony n9100. I am definitely open for denon receiver and some other speakers. Can someone please advise me a good home theater mix. My budget is approx 50k. And I have a huge room which is rectangular. TV to sofa length is around10 /12 feet. I have 46inch led TV. And I definitely need Wi-Fi enabled DVD, 3d, blue ray player. That should have features like LG home theater . And I m looking out for tower speakers wireless the rear ones.

I have Donon 1713, I have auditioned them with Polk speakers and found them to be good. PRO FX sells Polk speakers.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
