Hi guys,

I didn't knew buying a TV could get so painful. I can't fix my mind on which TV to buy. Some says LG is bad and having problems (though it uses IPS panel), Samsung had lags so problem in gaming, Sony is costly, Pana i don't know.

I will mainly use the TV as follow:
Daily Approx Usage: 8-10 hrs
40% SD TV
30% HD movies
30% PS3/XBOX gaming

I want to buy 40 inch and above and have a budget of 60-65k. I don't worry about USB playback of mkv and others coz i'm buying WDTV, also i have external 5.1 setup so i don't care about sound too. Even tv without speakers will do ..;)

I'm only worried about PQ and input lag (i dont care if tv has dlna, rj45 or netcast as i have all those in my ps3 and xbox).

I zeroed on LG 42ld650 but there are many negative posts on it, that its blackness lacks, assembling is bad etc, I'm also unaware about anything of PANA LCD, are they good? I though PANA are known for plasmas, BTW i will not buy PLASMA under any circumstance as i cannot maintain it for 1st 200 hrs.

Thanks, hope this helps to give suitable suggestions.

You dont have to use it carefully during 1st 200 hours if you buy Panasonic Plasma. There is not burn in or IR issues in Panny. So you can keep panny plasma in your choice list. They are actually excellent Tvs.

I was in the same dilemma, i finally settle for the Panny v20, needless to say i am very satisfied with it as of today ;)

Performance in movies is just excellent, a ps3 is on my radar ( my wife is planning to gift it to me :yahoo:) but i am keeping it for later say around Nov end or Dec. r8 now i gotta get :) an AVR.

Btw if it helps , I too dint worry about what format it can play or how the speakers are, so the v20 has not disappointed me on this front. It plays xvid files even 1080p without stuttering but mkv's and mp4s are off the list :indifferent14: ...

So to sum up , i say go ahead and give it a shot.

manu & samy thanks for the suggestions... can you please mention which model of pana is best within my budget, also did you maintain for fist 200hrs, do you have faced any plasma problems whatsoever?? (i'm really paranoid about IR .. and heat..lol)

I bought the Panasonic V20, which fell within my budget (61-62k)

The neo pdp panels which have come out in 2010 onwards don't need any special precaution for first 200 hrs like how its predecessors had. So forget about the first 200hr thingy which used to be associated with Plasmas all this while. About the Heat part of it , again practically speaking i doubt if its an issue anymore with the new panels.

The only thing you should be aware of it that power consumption for plasma's are generally on the higher side compared to LCD's but then in most cases what i have read is that for avg viewing it will vary as low as 55 or 59 watts to about 160 or 180 watts depending on what is being displayed ( These are test figures i got off some Australian site, will post the link if i get it again)

The V20 will consume the maximum rated power of 350 odd watts provided its displaying only full white and is doing some serious on-board processing for e.g Up-scaling etc ... In practical usage u would hardly be consuming this amount of power.

My views are purely based on actual usage experience, btw some of the other TV's i considered before getting the Panny V20 are :

Sony ex 500\ex700
Samsung 5 & 6 Series
Toshiba Regaza ze700

And oh the one more thing that sealed the deal for me is the 3 year warranty (only panel) from Panasonic :)
