Sony's BDP-S370- Usb play capabilities- Discussion

i tried mkv2vob for splitting & playing files >4gb on the sony s370.
The files play fine , but i get a audio glitch/shriek when playing the file from the start or when i resume playback after pausing it.
other than that , it plays them fine.

Can someone confirm regarding playability of large mkv ( 6,8gb) burnt on a Dual Layer ?

BTW.. saw the BDP-s370 on sale in ezone for <8k on occasion of Indep day :( ( bought it for 9.8k)

I feel so violated.

What is the current price of this player?

I too have similar doubt of buxx:

now i have a new problem..
i had split a mkv file into 2 using mkvmerge, i am able to view it on my system but i do not get any response on the player.
it recognizes the fle and i can view it but when i press enter on the file it just hangs...
any suggestions???

hi... pl check the media info of the mkv file.. if it shows High 5.1 Profile then the 370 will not be able to play. You need to convert the 5.1 Profile to 4.1 or 4.0 profile. For this you have to use txMUXER tool. In this tool you can load the orignal mkv file (before you split using mkvmerge).. there is a option for change profile.. select that and choose 4.1.. in the split and cut tab choose the file size for a value < 4Gb... pl note that the split files will be saved as M2TS. But the S370 plays M2TS no issues.
For converting 5.1 to 4.1 on my IBM laptop (Intel Core 2 @1.83GHz, 2GB memory) a 2.2 GB mkv file took 88 seconds.. so its not a very time consuming affair...
Good luck...

You simply cannot do this without the player being connected to a television.

I tried a few MKV and MP4 files with various AS .. and I did not encounter any issue on the AS being displayed on the screen.
Can you check your settings for the 370 under Output Video Format under Screen Setting under Setup.. there are options to retain original resolution for Video output in HDMI etc. In case of DVD there is a DVD aspect ratio option.. it should work using some of these combination

Hi,

I was planning to buy the Sony BDP-S370 but had certain issues to be clarified, so wanted to check if someone will help.

1. Does it support subtitles (.srt, sub, etc) on usb with .mp4, .avi, .mkv
2. Does it play Audio CD's which have more than 74 minutes.

I request anyone to address these issues...

Thanks,

I loaded some mp3 songs to the USB drive and tried to play on my Sony BDP S370 it shows that USB drive is empty what could be the reason

Few Qs you may consider-

1. Whether it was working previously?
2. Pl look into what operations you did after which it was shown empty by BD370.
3. Whether it is showing in PC.

Actually why I asked about Linux was that if you plug usb into a PC running linux and delete (right click and delete or press delete) some song/movie then it makes one Trash folder in it (usb drive) like recycle bin in Windows. Then if you plug it in Sony then it will show as it has no songs.

To prevent this one has to press Shift+delete when using Linux so that Trash folder is not created and the file is permanently deleted from usb drive.

The USB is perfectly working fine in PC but not in the Blu-ray player, i also loaded wmv clips its working (Video) but shows that audio is not supported. I dont know what to do now!
