Hi I have just booked Yamaha 2910 and planning to set it up in coming week. I have a query with speaker placements. What should be the ideal height for both front and surrounds..

I read somewhere that placing speakers near ceiling gives better response compared to ear level. Is this correct? Does it really make a difference.

My room size is 18*11 'L' shaped hall with living area of around 10*11 with one side covered with large Sliding windows overlooking the balcony.

Do help as I want to get this right in first attempt itself before drilling holes all over the wall..

Hi navmen 83...

If you are having a 5.1 setup which is basically surround, then the front L&R&C speakers should be at ear level. If this is not possible, you should angle them a bit to point to your ears. The 2 surround speakers should be placed one foot above your ear level.

However, if you are going for a 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 atmos setup, then even your surrounds should be at ear level. All the best
