STB hookup with HT for 5.1 sound output

Hi Experts,

I am very new to these things. yesterday i have bought below mentioed systems. i have not yet opened the packing yet.

1. Sony BRavia LCD KLV- EX41
2. Philips Home Theater Model HTS5561/98
3. Reliance HD Set top box (STB) -- will be buying in shortly.

Details:

Sony BRavia LCD KLV EX41 Terminals:

HDMI/AudioIn - 2 (Rear)
USB 2.0 - 1 (Side)
Composite Video Input(s) - 2 (Rear/ Hybrid)
Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr)- 1 (Rear/ Hybrid)
RF Connection Input(s) - 1 (Rear)
HD15 PC Input / Audio - 1 (Rear)
Analog Audio Input(s) - 3 (1 Side/ 2 Rear)
Audio Out - 1 (Rear)
Headphone Out - 1 (Side)

How should i set up my above components so that i get 5.1 sound out from by STB using home theater.

Video from STB will go directly to LCD.You need to connect coaxial cable from STB to HT for 5.1ch.

Agree with Spirovious. I had a HTIB and TS HD and i had hooked up similarly. Works perfect.

stay miles away from reliance hd ... go for tata sky or airtel

If you want 5.1 then avoid reliance. It has no 5.1 till date. With others you should check whether the digital out is optical or coaxial.

Hmm.. understood. i will check on airtel HD.

but if i connect my STB with HDMI cable to LCD and connect LCD to my HT with HDMI will this be enough?

as my HT and LCD has HDMI 1.4 (ARC). do i need seperate Optical cable running from STB to HT?

Do let me know.

PS: I know that my HT has HDMI ARC but need to check on my LCD. isuppose all Full HD tv comes with HDMI ARC by default right?
