Suggest a good Refrigerator

Hello friends... after checking different models from Sharp/Hitachi/Panasonic, finally we settled for "Sharp SH-PK-49M-SL". :ohyeah:

It's a 431 liters refrigerator with Plasmacluster Ion and Hybrid Cooling systems. Not sure whether they are really useful features or just the marketing gimmicks, but the fridge looks really nice. Both my wife and myself liked that!

The MRP was something around Rs. 42,990, and I got this at 39,000 (38,000 with exchange of my old fridge). Yeah, it's way over my initial budget, but size is also bigger than the initial estimate and we liked the fridge, so that's fine!

I really appreciate all the help and info provided by you guys! Thanks a ton for that !!! :clapping:

Congrats on your purchase. I bet you and your wife will not regret that decisions. My wife and mother still appreciates my knowledge for settling down for the Sharp.

Best Wishes,

Hari.

Thanks Hari. Today in the evening it got delivered and installed! He suggested us to start it only after about 2 hours of installation, so just started sometime back. Yeah, it's super silent!

Congratulations and welcome to Sharp family.

I have a Sharp SJ-PT57R for past one year. No sound, no smell and I can control the temperature easily. And it is a 5*.

And Sharp is the only brand that can change the door opening direction(Right side Hinge to Left side Hinge), if needed. It costs a bomb to do that though. The kit costs 3000Rs.

Our family has a Voltas 165 liter single door refrigerator bought way back in 1990. From that year on till date... 22 years ... it is running without a single hitch.

I remember when it was bought the sales guy said the compressor is from Denmark and the Voltas range was the costliest of the lot. I cannot remember a day when it was turned of; it just goes on and on and on.

Sharp is a small company but they make excellent products. Sharps refrigerators and ACs are of really high quality. Recently I bought two Sharp 1.5 Ton Inverter Acs with inbuilt Plasmaclustor ion air purifier and they simply provide awesome cooling.

Hi Akaeswar joined the forum today only. Saw your query going through the posts.... its been some time now that I have been up to date with the ref industry. However I was in touch till 2008 wherein side-by-side refrigerators were begining to enter the mkt. At that point ref were divided into 2 clases direct cool and frost free. The direct cool mkt was dominated by whirlpool (Godrej had decent units too) and in frost free LG and Samsung used to rule the roost.
Both Ref and AC are based on refirigeration cycle and that has not changed. The coils in the AC do not melt but corrode , if the unit is situated near open drains then such problems occur since the fumes from drain start reacting with the copper in the coils and corrosion starts. Hope this helps

Whirlpool is not best

i bought a whirlpool fridge in 2009 it is giving problem every single year problem in 5 years or more the cooling pipes freeze not complety water drops in the food items and spoil the food items i would suggest don't buy whirlpool buy LG,Hitachi and godrej etc they would give less problems in my opinion.

what are the good refrigerators these days. Currently have a 497 litre samsung. Only after 4 yrs the compressor has gone. Service center is a nightmare trying to claim warrantly based on serial number as my bill is lost after 4 yrs. Horrible after sales as well. Now any good brands with good after sales?

My Whirlpool 3-door fridge had some condensation issue outside the fridge and it wasn't a major one but they replaced the fridge as it was under warranty. Very prompt service.

Had a whirlpool for 7years, then needed a bigger fridge. Went for samsung 500l, went kaput within 2years, they couldn't service it and refunded some amount after depreciation. So again went with whirlpool and happy with it.

To me nothing can beat LG in after sales.

All my experience with LG after sales have been pleasant and impressive.

+1 for LG, 5 yrs no issues so far ; LG cooling solutions are much better than Samsung IMHO.

My Sharp Refrigerator is as good as new since past 8 years with zero issues till date. Even no noise too. Will last for a life time my guess. Hats off to Sharp.
