Linksys WRT120N and WRT160N can be good options for you. You may refer prices in your local stores and features on linksys website. I do not think you need dual band support. Just single band wifi N router can be good. Also do you intend to stream video (not same youtube over the net) from your network drives / shares / pc to your tv via any media players?

Go for TP-Link. Good products and priced very reasonably. You can even get it on Ebay.

Linksys WRT160N has faced a lot of criticism, online by the users ....... even I was on a look out for a decent wifi n router and with certain research decided on Linksys E2000 wifi n router. Using it for the past 3,4 months and I am pretty satisfied. Its an exact replica of E3000 except, it doesn't come with a USB port can only work in either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band at a time, rather than both at the same time. Another cool feature is that you can manage the basic router config through a neat gui interface, rather than going to the admin webpage. Router also allows a guest account which can temp be enabled for friends (with a temp password) who want to use your wifi, without being the need to let them know your permanent password.(handy feature). AFA speeds go, E2000 tops the chart as well. During my test on wifi n network, router easily managed 80Mbps on 2.5Ghz mode in the same room.(did not test on 5Ghz) With a distance of about 10-15 meters the speed achieved was around 65-70mbps. In a real world scenario this means I was able to copy a 500MB file in just under 50sec which is pretty cool.

Hi ~ Is this fast enough to stream blu-ray rips from my Win 7 Media Server, stream to Roku (again from a local system, 128 kbits) in another room (15 ft away) and allow me to download at 1 Mbps from the net all wirelessly at the same time?

Thx,
~s~

From my own setup I can tell you that BD rips upto 5 GB will strem fine. Rips between 6-10 gbs will work if you are lucky... not much obstruction of walls between router and receiver and link speed is good. 10gb+ ones are difficult over Wifi N.

Hi Saikat,

Very helpful. for 6-10 & 10 Gig rips would it help if my player is hooked up via an ethernet cable (pls let me know if there's any specific type I need to use) and the MC is connected to the router wirelessly?

Thx,
