Suggestion for good smartphone

after all the posts and discussion.. this is what i feel..

as this point of time.. yes android is the call.

battery issue - true certain extent OS is to be blamed. but they are still working on it.
most of the battery consumption is by the big screen and the hardware of the device. why blame the OS ??

apps - tons of them, free too... lolz..

win os ( mango ) - still buggy.. nokia will certainly go down in the premium segment.
might still hold the market share for the basic phones. even in that i see no innovation.this is coming from years old nokia fan boy. and the lumnia still freezes

OS - android would do the job.

as stated.. plays major file formats and yes linux based.

the only thing windows does quickly is crashing.

coming to the phones..

galaxy note : a drool worthy .. monster of a phone but impractical.. or maybe due to me riding most of the times and not driving.

galaxy S2... : no point going for it anymore. samsung is cheating on comsumers now.
due to the heating issue and less batt life. sammy has removed the
GPU and clocked the same proccy to 1 Ghz from 1.2. though you can always root it and clock it back to 1.2 Ghz. however no fix for the removed Gpu. also this all happened in past few months after samsung ran into shortage with the chipset for the S2. the box states I9100 the phone you get inside is I9100G and thats the underclocked version without GPU without any reduction in price.

lucky i got the old ones...:)

Galaxy R : this was the best bet . now they stopped selling this model for the same reason mentioned above. as they cant sell two phones with a price diff of 10K with minor diffrences.

htc : the htc sense is the one of the best touch interface you can get.

motorola : razr looks good and quite competetive as per the hardware specs go.

sony : never been a sony eric.. guy so wont comment.

if looking for something in range of 20-30k try to grab a cheapo phone for a month or 2 or use a spare phone and pull the trigger on galaxy s3. said to be a quad core and lots more.

galaxy y .. one of the best options under 10k.

htc explorer was on sale for offer 7k ish. now back to 8k odd.. check techenclave for more offers.

and yes.. apple is good too... screen and touch is awsome but not my cup of tea.

Since you where using xperia mini pro you could try out xperia neo V or xperia pro for 15,000/-, xperia ray for 12,700/- Check ebay for the above prices. You may have to apply 10% ebay coupon in some cases.

Cheers.

I am going to enter the smart phone market soon. So, a confused noob here asks for suggestions.

Presently using: Nokia X2-01

Budget: About 15K, would be happy to get one for 10K as well

Requirements: Good battery life, good wifi connectivity for surfing and making VOIP calls from abroad, screen size: 3.5 or 3.7 inch, smooth and good display, preferably a rugged one, good for music. No gaming stuff. I do not want to do lot of experiments with this phone.

Shortlist: Defy+, Lumina 710, Samsung Omnia W, Nokia 603 and some more

Confusion: Should I go for a windows phone instead of andriods? Can I make VOIP calls from windows phone?

Kindly suggest.

Found this old thread, so thought of posting here . Ordered Lumia 720 today, yet to receive it. I have used a cheap samsung android (B5512, Pro Duos) for the last 1.5 years and have decided to move on from it finally. My budget was fixed within 15 to 18K and had shortlisted two the HTC Desire 501 and the Lumia 720. But in the end went for the Lumia mainly for the best in price range camera (comparable to that of iPhone 5 as some say) and the two day lasting battery (with moderate usage).

I read many people complaining the limitation of the app market but I searched the windows phone store and realized majority of apps that I need including but not limited to foobar remote, xbmc remote, P2P file sharing application remotes, tapatalk, whatsapp, facebook, skype (with video calling), etc are all available. It is true that some apps are paid but I can live with that. It is true that Andriod app market has numerous options for the same category of applications but in my personal experience the best ones have a Pro version many times ending up requiring you to pay. Am kind off bored with Android. But do not know what will be the usage experience of a windows phone. Will wait till it arrives.

Also heard that there will be some important updates with the upcoming windows 8.1 patch like OTG support, internet tethering, etc
