Great choices you got there.
If you tend to listen a lot of music, Marantz AVR will be good. For movies, Pioneer and Denon are more suited.

Diamond 220s are great speakers. As an alternative, try to audition the Elac Debut bookshelves (Andrew Jones design).

Thank u sir.. i lov listen to music mostly and occationally watching movies and videos. Initially i decided to buy avr and front speakers.also, for good hearing experience, along with front speakers,i need to buy sub or centre speakers?? At present i hav a limited budjet. So i opted to buy surrounds later.

Sir,after hearing ur suggestion, i changed my mind from pioneer to marantz.marantz avr is not in my budjet,i will extend it. My only concern regarding marantz is does this company having indian warranty and service centres?? Also, the actual price of this receiver is nearly 55k. But it is available for 42k in hifimart. So inly i shotlisted this one. Could you tell me sir, about buying this avr in hifimart..

Marantz 1506 is a great choice among the options you have. Do try Polk Rti A1 or Polk Tsx series speakers too. Polk goes very well with Marantz.

Something to consider, if music is your priority, consider a stereo amp and pair of bookshelf speakers. You can get better quality amplification than an avr .home theatre is good if you are more into movies.

Ideally for music you should not need a Sub unless your preferences are for additional bass. You should then look for amps which have a Sub out. Such amps are few. Look for speakers that can play down to 40Hz. Yes you can watch movies via a stereo amp. What is your source going to be? You will have to feed the amp with Stereo track. Some of the newer stereo amps have built in DACs too.

HiFivision had discounts on Marantz amps. You may want to check them out if the sale is still on.

Thnq u sir.. mysources are sd setupbox, extrenal hard disks, dvds. Mostly i use ext hard disks only.also suggest some bookshelfs that can play down to 40hz. I have no idea about these speakers. So please suggest me sir

If music is the priority, look at the Marantz PM 6006 and the Nad 316BEE on HiFiMART.

PSB speakers usually pair well with the Nads. Q Acoustics are also quite nice.

Okay so it's going to be a mixed bag of things. I would suggest you go ahead with your initial plan of a receiver and get a pair of bookshelves. You could then go ahead with getting front, centre and sub as you understand the system better. The current ones can be moved to the rear. This is known to be one of the best ways to build a good system over time.

My suggestion would be Marantz with Polk audio tsx series, Q acoustics 1000 or 2000 series speakers. You could also keep an eye on forum classified for some good deals as well as olx and Quikr.

That's good. You could ask about soon to be or already launched Signature series. Pro fx Bangalore had told me that they were scheduled for mid or end January launch. There could be some introductory offers too.

Get the speakers first, then see how much bass you are missing. That should give you a good idea on what kind of sub to pick.

Ordered in Amazon or any?

Yes wharfedales are considered warm and Polk's as bright. You could Google it up to know what that really means. In general Marantz is a warm sounding amp hence a brighter speaker like Polk sounds good with it. However, if you have a Yamaha or a Onkyo amp which are considered neutral to bright amps, the same Polk speaker would start hurting the ears a bit. In that case a warmer speaker like wharfedales would suit better. Again, this is all subjective depending upon the end users tastes and preferences.

Check out pro fx website, see if they deliver to your place, I think that would be cheaper than ordering from Amazon.

Great. Please don't call me Sir. It's too big a word for me to carry. I am just a fellow enthusiast trying to help out with what ever little knowledge I have gained for this very forum.
