suggestion for speaker combinations

Great. Please don't call me Sir. It's too big a word for me to carry. I am just a fellow enthusiast trying to help out with what ever little knowledge I have gained for this very forum.

That is a good sub, however I would still suggest you wait for a while before buying the sub. Get the speakers, burn them in, get used to them and then look for sub if you feel like needing one.

I had auditioned the psw110 sub. Found it only making noise and vibrating. Hence I put in a lil more money and got the Polk dsw550i.

Now that's a sub and a half! Also I have the rtiA1.

You have a Bette r version of the speakers I have. No chance for a psw110.

The extra money for the dsw550i will be worth it. Go audition both and u will hear and see the difference.

Thank u sir.. i lov listen to music mostly and occationally watching movies and videos. Initially i decided to buy avr and front speakers.also, for good hearing experience, along with front speakers,i need to buy sub or centre speakers?? At present i hav a limited budjet. So i opted to buy surrounds later.

like others have suggested, since music is a priority, go with a stereo setup. not sure what your budget will be but if youre looking for within 50k, then for the amp go with a norge concerto gold. great value at its price (around 16k). you'll spend almost double if you want similar sound with a branded amp. if you have a higher budget, go with the acoustic portrait swara 75w amp at 36k. again for similar sound in a branded amp, you;ll spend around double or more. for speakers, depending on your room size and the type of music you listen to, you can choose between bookshelves and floorstanders. again depending on your budget, brands to look at are wharfedale diamonds, kef q series, monitor audio bronze...

If you can still do it, go and audition your music and movies on a Marantz AVR and then on a stereo amplifier. See what would you prefer. Movies do sound good even in stereo. I am suggesting this since your primary purpose is music.

You can audition Boston Acoustics A26 bookshelves also... They pair well with Marantz amps and have grt bass.

Okay so it's going to be a mixed bag of things. I would suggest you go ahead with your initial plan of a receiver and get a pair of bookshelves. You could then go ahead with getting front, centre and sub as you understand the system better. The current ones can be moved to the rear. This is known to be one of the best ways to build a good system over time.

My suggestion would be Marantz with Polk audio tsx series, Q acoustics 1000 or 2000 series speakers. You could also keep an eye on forum classified for some good deals as well as olx and Quikr.

Congratulations. Those are very good components. Being a user of Marantz 1504, I can tell your 1506 will server you very well.

Where did you buy from and at what price?

Thhx bro. I ordered polk rti from profx chennai. And marantz nr from hifimart. As i have a limited budjet, i have decided to go with only fronts. For other speakers, i may bought them in future. Could tel me some suggestions for speaker placements?,

Congrats on your purchase.

These are great bookshelf speakers and so can be mounted but again depends on space etc....if you have a unit to place them (L+R) it will make better sense and also sound better.....

For speaker placement, you can google it in images and see what works better for your ears....everyone has different tastes and requirements...also depends on what furniture etc is there in the room.....accordingly the sound will travel and bounce.....

Thank u sir.it is very small room.shall i place the speakers on concrete floors?? Or may i have to mount them on wall?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I also looking for good receiver and Front floor standing speakers with surrounding and center speaker.
It is required for both music and movies.
My budget is 45K but checked Pioneer vsx 531, denon 520bt. I am getting confused about speakers and where to buy.

It will be helpful if you kindly suggest me something.

Thanks

Ideally you should get a pair of speaker stands. Placing on the floor should be totally avoided. The height of the speaker should be such that the tweeter is more or less at the same height as listeners ears.

Hai bro I am mounting them on the wall,as i am not interested in spending 10k for stands... after initial hearing experience, i am very happy with the output,as the clarity is so good and there is good bass also..while watching movies, thd voices seem to be on lower side.overall happy .

That's good to know you are happy with the sound. That is all that matters. 10k for stands? Are they gold plated? You can build your own stands and they will work quite well too. Should not cost you more that 2-3k along with some physical effort. Look up this forum for threads on diy stands, there are many members who have built their own stands.
