Suggestion pre amp tubes for Jolida JD1501BRC

Hi All,

I want say thanks for each and every one who has given suggestion till now for stereo amp HT setup.

I have Jolida 1501BRC Integrated Hybrid Amplifier,it has two 12AX7 pre amp tubes,I am planing to change this tubes to get more sound stage,details and deep bass.now this amp came with Tung Sol 12AX7 pre amp tubes. I don't have that much knowledge on tubes.

I am expecting some suggestion from you peoples.one of my friend is coming from US,planing to buy from there.

I use Psvane Treasure II 12AX7s. More realism than any other new production tubes out there (not that I've heard many new tubes but reputedly one of the best reviewed and its real world performance lives up to the mark as described in reviews). Good bass definition too. Lacks the the "sophistication" of NOS tube sound though. The one and only downside.

New Production Mullard or Electro Harmonix Gold pin are good. If you want good bass see new production(from 1980s) Philips.

Actually the tubes you have if they are nos are very very good. Not sure how much you will gain by swapping. Maybe a new flavor of sound but better sound - I am not very sure!

I used a Jan-Philips 5751 for a long time. It lacks the definition I needed and sounded a bit soft whereas I needed more edge to the sound. Nicely sophisticated sound though. I wish my 12AX7s had that one extra quality that the 5751 exhibits and they would have been the perfect tube to die for...

Now the tube which amp have is fine only,but vocals are not going high and bass is not smooth and not deep.

I fixed my bass with a capacitor change not the tubes. Make sure its not the fault of your speakers either. Or Inteconnect. What IC do you use?

I am using Mogami Inter connects . there is no speakers problem when It was pair with some other amp and avr,it is fine.

Pl check with some interconnects like Chord Crimson plus, if you can get hold of one from a fellow FM.

it means if I change RCA cables,can get some changes in sound.

I replaced PP caps with PIO.
Mogami should be better than Chord crimson. I have crimson and it bloats the lower mids.

Preamp tubes will change the sound a lot. Generally one has to check the synergy between power tubes in an amp circuit and between a speaker and valve amplifiers versus solid state. A global negative feedback circuit may feed back into the driver stage of an integrated otherwise the synergy of a preamp tube with speakers is generally not the issue.

The 1501 RC is a good mid-level amplifier. The Tung Sol it came with are russian reissues. They match well with the amplifier and were chosen as OEM tubes by jolida. If you want to better them try some 5751 NOS tubes (made in USA for military applications) they have lower gain compared to the 12AX7 but have lower noise and are more reliable, and most importantly are cheaper than the NOS 12AX7/ECC83. The other option are chinese tubes like psvane or TJ full music.
If you think the speakers are not going low enough then it most probably is an issue with ur speakers. I drive my dyn 52 with this amp and they go low enough. Try to audition other speakers with this amp to confirm.

I have seen good reviews of preferred series 7025 preamp.is it good for jolida also?

paramesh, are you assessing with Aviano1? That can be your bottleneck too for Bass since its a rear ported one, hence optimum distance from walls is required. Your older Aviano 6 was better in this regard

I'm sorry I have to disagree with some of the posters on this thread-I don't think that you can expect a sudden and noticeable improvement by changing some vacuum tubes. The amp is just a link in the chain and the final result is a result of combining all the links. I have owned and used both solid state and tube amps and pre amps for well over a decade.

Finally placed JAN GE 5751 NOS tubes for my jolida..
