i have an old DIY amp which gives a small (but not ignorable level) thumping sound when the amp is switched on. But no such sound when it is switched off. Is it due to lack of any speaker protection circuit ? If it is put on everyday then would it damge the woofer which is an old 10" Philips one ? any suggestion for rectification without too much meddling?
