Received my Topping T20 yesterday. Sounds good with my Wharfedale 10.2.
I have a Norge 1000 too.
Am willing to sell the T20 if anybody is interested.Its brand new.

Must admit it was an impulsive buy after reading this thread. I like the sound. But will have to spend on speakers and I don't a second setup.
Indiranagar. Brand new. Spent 4700 bucks.

I have ordered the Topping TP20 tripath 2020 amplifier.

Please help me choosing a speaker for this amplifier.I have considered these

1. cambridge audio s30
2. jbl c1
3. sonodyne sonus 1501 v3
 
Hi guys,

Received my Topping last evening from mp4nation. Kept it playing from my ipod for about 2 hrs after which it opened up. Listening to CDs and FLACs is so much fun. Its difficult to believe that such a tiny piece of equipement can produce the same level of sound as my Norge 2060. Even watched a movie last night with the Topping as a stereo amp and was pleasantly surprised by the sound of gun shots ! This was not expected- in fact I had to lower the volume after some time so as not to upset the neighbors !
Btw the Topping is connected currently to my Monitor Audio M2 speakers which are 6Ohms and 88 db sensitivity- driving them is no problem at all. Volume level doesnt need to cross 11 o clock at present- slightly higher for movies.

How are you playing the music off the iPod ...through the digital connection or using the stereo out ? When you play your CD or flac files do you run it through a DAC ? If so which one ? Coz I use the Asus OPlay HD2 to play my flac files and I have to turn the volume knob to almost 3 o'clock to listen to some filling sound. From what I have seen, I think this Amp requires at least a decent dedicated DAC to deliver good results.
 
I am playing ipod through the 3.5 mm jack. I am not using any DAC, previously I used to run these files through an Ipad- Apple CCK- HRT MS2- powered USB hub but it was too much of a hassle. So currently I play CDs through the Panasonic DMP BDT220 through analogue outs.
On the Asus HDP R3 I had also noticed a drop in volume/ signal levels when using analogue outs where in I had to up the volume knob on the Norge to almost 3 o'clock.
With the Ipod even with the 3.5mm jack you can get decent sound levels with the knob at just 11 o'clock, 12 was in fact quite loud. I also use a very ordinary connecting cable (3.5 mm to stereo) which I find more than enough.
What is the rating of your speakers ?
 
I have paired the TP20 with Usher S 520. The are rated 86 db, 8 ohms nominal impedance and power handling of 75 watts. I guess your Panasonic player has a better dac than the one inside Asus. Just a guess. However I am a little surprised that your iPod is able to drive them well, my Cowon with the stereo to RCA cable isn't able to give me decent sound levels

Dips,

The Cowon seems to have that problem. In one of the recent AV Max issues, the magazine reviewers had tried pairing it with a DNM Amp and their observations were similar to yours (the signal being weak)

I ain't using any links .... 'creating' my own comments! Have been using this Lilliput over the last 2 years and it has been surprising me no ends. Had done auditions with it with no less than a dozen pair of speakers before opting for the JBL C 1s ... and it did'nt end there ... ended up trying it out with my existing fleet of speakers, last being with the Kryptons which too came out with flying colours!

Lepai amps though good are not in the same class as the Topping.

Request you to share the diff between Tripath 2021 amplifier and TP Tripath 2020 amplifier.

Also please let me know how i can buy them, do i need to buy a dac also or not.

I was looking for a budget music system setup and came across this thread.

I am from Bangalore, wanted check if i could audition this Amp with any of the members in Bangalore.
