Triluminous Display from SONY

i demod the b6 & there was definite black crush & shadow details were also quite disappointing.

Something should awfully be wrong with the calibration or the Source.
I too had done the Demo earlier last month back. I could not find any of this.
all I could see was the consistent gradations for black to grey - light source to distance fading out (for the image ) and Shadows clearly marked out .
or , not sure I should be visiting a DO ( its been almost 2 years since last checkup  )
( Had decided to purchase B6 55" , but took 65UH850T instead - size and price were the reason to dump B6)

Black crush is not possible with oled. What you're talking about is either problem with source or calibration issue.

Black crush is a byproduct of LCD, LCD works by blocking out backlight, when excessive, black crush happens.

If oled has anything, it's bloom from light refracting onto nearby areas from lid up areas on black backgrounds.

tried a few settings but it was still there. also read some complaints about it on a few forums. its possible that if you have it calibrated professionally its not an issue but we dont have that option in india

maybe its lg's processing? it just felt like it went to deep black anytime there was even a shade of black. almost like it wanted to 'show off' - "see how black i can go" kinda thing

Calibration settings are available on rtings.com
LG B6 OLED TV Calibration Settings

You should stop to consider that uptil now there were no technologies that had true blacks and anyone who finds it too black is actually conditioned to a degree of low gamma offset and finds true blacks - too black.

If you notice, rtings has mentioned

If you find that the blacks are crushed you can use 'Gamma' 1.9.

Gamma 2.2 is very difficult to achieve for almost ALL lcd tech ,where as oled is not lcd.
2.2 at 100% gamut is where accurate picture quality lies.
The only black crushes you'll find are at extremely low grey to dark levels, of around 2% brightness, and that's just for measuring, you'll never view anything at 2% brightness.
