Dear friends,
Because my One and a half ton Voltas window A/C was not working properly with a Double Boost Stabiliser by Premier , ( It kept tripping every half minute) despite keeping the thermostat at minimum, I recently purchased and installed a 4 KVA Triple boost stabiliser also made by Premier. Now, the A/C works well but the A/C fan seems to be rotating very fast when the compressor is not on and makes a humming sound similar to ceiling fans when the inverter is on.. Hence, I am wondering whether this kind of Triple Boost stabiliser is good or bad for the A/C.. The stabiliser also gets hot if the A/C runs for a while at a low temperature setting without cutting off.
I wonder if it is safe to use this Triple boost when the input voltage is ever in the normal working range ( 220 - 240 volts). in less hot days.
I am unable to bear the Chennai heat and feel tired and very uneasy if the A/C does not work during peak summer days.
The input voltage on most summer days is around 180 Volts.
Please share your views about Triple boost stabilisers.
Yours,

When voltage drops, the current draw increases proportionately to keep the appliance running coz Voltage x Current = Power (Wattage). If current draw exceeds certain threshold level, the MCB trips to avoid overheating of the wire which could even result in fire.

Getting a triple boost stab means forcing the system to stay alive by drawing more current to compensate for low voltage, so you have to check couple of things:
  1. Wiring from the mains to the AC should be thick enough to withstand the increased amount of current at lowest voltage.
  2. Install an MCB of a safe limit.
If these are fine, then you may have to get the AC checked up.

Regards,
Uday
