I need to custom design a couple of Dust Covers for 2 of my TTs. They are right now naked and desperately need covers for dust :D.

I was thinking of a basic design without the hinges.

Any leads where in Bangalore can I get this made? Any FMs have any experience in making custom design dust covers in Bangalore?

Cheers...

Mine did not materialize, but aquarium makers should be able to fabricate dustcovers with glass. I don't know much about acrylics.
But of course, glass dustcovers will be fragile & heavy...but would look nice and would be mostly scratchfree for long.

Find shops that make acrylic items. They will have the material and the skill to put together a dust cover. It is also possible to use advanced methods like hot air blowers to soften and bend acrylic sheets. Also, a friend told me that it is possible to buy hinges specific to a TT from ebay. I have not tried any of these but plan to try soon on behalf of a Delhi friend who wants a cover for his Twelve Hundred Mark V.

Thanks mate. In-fact I do have the original hinges and clamps for the 1200mk2 dust cover. Now just need to get the dimensions right.

Cheers...

Gents - Just spoke with an Acrylic Box dealer here at Bangalore, near South End Circle.. He gave me a quote of Rs. 880 plus tax for each dust cover. I gave the dimensions for the 1200 TT.

I will visit him over the weekend and most probably place the order.

Interested FMs who would like to make Dust Covers for their TTs, below are the coordinates:

Somya Creations in Basavanagudi, Bangalore | Badge Manufacturers | Justdial

Really only 880? Take two! Or three even! :)

How does his work look?

Well, those were my first expressions as well :). I had a look at a few photos and they looked quite alright. What I understood is that these guys predominantly work with acrylic and make various types of boxes for trophies, donation boxes, racks etc. The gentleman asked me what this was for and when I mentioned for a TT, he said Ooh okay. I think he has made a few for TTs earlier as well.

I plan to visit him over this weekend and also have a look at the quality of work and finishing.

Surely a group buy can bring in a certain amount of reduction?

There is a place in Kochi were they make excellent Acrylic dust covers. Anil got two made for his EMTs from this place. The only problem is that they don't take any orders over phone nor do they have e mail id. One has to personally go and give order and arrange collection. I have got several dust covers made by them. I can give you the location and land phone number. If any FMs from Cochin can get it done, it would be convenient. The cost per cover will be around Rs 850 for 3 mm Acrylic and more if you want thicker ones

Got the Dust Covers made for me Twelve Hundreds. Build and professional quality/finish is excellent and fits perfectly.

Initially I thought of 3mm Acrylic however choose 5mm as the cover will be nice and sturdy. Also got the name of the TT engraved on the cover.

These are the exact dimensions for a 1200/1210 dust cover:

440mm Length x 350mm Width x 60mm Height.

good work, where did you get it done and spend?

I got this done with the same lead I put up on the previous page. Somya Creations Bangalore.

This cost me Rs. 1400/- all inclusive for each dust cover (5mm Acrylic).

Plus, the gentlemen there was a thorough joy to interact with. He really knows in and out of acrylic. Initially I was told a wait time of 8-10 days however they were ready for collection in 3 days time.

Congratulations my friend!

The covers look really neat and well built.

So now all of us know to whom to contact to get these dust covers.

Kudos to you "Record Player"
