hello FMs,
Watched two hollywood movies recently; "Oblivion" (1st three pics) and "The Warm Bodies" (the last 2).
Thought would share the pics of the TTs used in the flicks.
The funny part is that both of these are post apocalyptic movies and the use of TT has been portrayed very nicely.
So.....while the whole world is dead (or atleast the half of it), vinyl is still alive....and kicking...
cheers,
abhraneel

I liked this scene, when I watched oblivion.

Another movie (of 1950s) which I dont remember the name, showed doctor recording the diagnosis with patient in the "Recordable TT". It was cool.

for those who watch malayalam movies, there was an old early 1980s malayalam movie called Poochakkoru Mookkuthi in which Mohanlal's character runs a record store and he supplies and collects a TT for repairs (presumably an HMV record player) from one of the character's homes. This character (played by Nedumudi Venu) has a collection of hindustani classical music while his wife (played by sukumari) has a collection of english disco records. They end up fighting about which genre to listen to and end up throwing their respective record collections at each other. Pretty nasty :(

in the 1970s movie Choti Si Baat, Amol Palekar's character invites Vidhya Sinha's character to his home. He makes arrangements to play a record on his HMV calypso record player (i think its the calypso). He is shown setting up the record player in a corner and actually playing a record on it. The record is shown to finish playing and he then manually returns the tone arm to base.

Seeking a friend for the end of the world... keira knightly loves records, she's actually roaming around half the country with a bunch of records with her all the time.

1. Golmaal (old & original) has a scene in the beginning of the movie where Amol Palekar along with his sister is playing a Chupke-chupke record.:)

2. Another classic, Anand has made a full use of a spool tape recorder. The player is used very effectively during the climax or closing scenes of the 1970 classic.

3. Old hindi movie Khamoshi has a scene where Rajesh Khanna hears his ex-girlfriend sing over on a record; in fact a nice song that is: Pyar ko pyar rehne do, koi naam na do. Translation for FMs who are not well versed with Hindi: Let love be love, don't give it any other name.

4. Kishore Kumar in the epic comedy, Half Ticket shakes a leg with a lady with music played on a Record Player in the background. Actually, putting it into context, Kishore Kumar was acting a sales person for the TT in that scene. Hilarious.

Reuben, You forgot to add the twist in that scene which makes it all the more hilarious :D:p
