Hi All,

Planning to build a TV stand.. Here is what I was able to conceive it so far.. Collecting inputs, to kick start it

- Should be able to hold a maximum of100 Kgs weight..

I have mid size wooden reaper @ home to start with to build the frame..

What should be the thickness of the cube, so that it can hold a max of 100 Kgs..

1. Why not a wall mount for the TV?
2. The AVR at a height will be horribly inconvenient for any changes or cleaning.
You need wall mounted TV and speakers and a rack below. Very simple.

See my setup below. Only, the speakers are largish satellites either side of the TV.
AVR, STB, BDP, stereo amp, they are all on the rack.

The standmounts in front are for the separate hifi system.
(Though presently I have shifted the stereo setup from this location for other reasons).

Thanks for your inputs..

1. Yes i can wall mount it.. Right now my TV is wall mounted.

2. The AVR at a height will be horribly inconvenient for any changes or cleaning.

Agreed,, But i thought that will be best way to keep my 1.5 yrs old daughter away from the volume knob of the AVR... Tough to keep her away from it..

Right.. I get the idea.. If i do this way, i need to stack my AVR & center channel below TV. If i have additional power amp, it would get difficult to adjust..

Your setup is Elegance at it best... Love it

I don't have much space.. Anyways, i will share my current set-up when i get back home..

Sir, Such Big TV are meant to be Wall Mounted. Let me give Suggestion.

1. TV Wallmount .
2. Center Channel Stand Mount below the TV.
3.Just have three storage stand , WithThick Glass Door(With Lock preferred), to keep your AVR\Others away from Angel.
4 Install a small exhaust fan behing each shelf (Specially where you keep the AVR).
5. Just have a tower stand attached to the Aatual AV stand at Sides, where you could mount the Speaker. This would give elegant Look as well.

Say for example 1

5 Feet Length 2 feet depth Sheets 3 ( For shelves ),
1.5 Feet Height and 2 Feet Depth Sheet 6.

This will make you Stand with 4 Section( with Roughly 2 Feet length, 2 Feet height and 2 Feet Depth..

Then for Speaker Stands 4 Feet height and 2 Feet depth Sheets 4.(To Make a Rectangle Box)
4 Feet, 2 feet Height (Thin Sheet) to cover the back of the Speaker Stand.
2 Feet length, 2 feet depth Sheet 4
2 feet Length and 1.8 feet( Just Two Inch shorter for 2 Feet) Sheets- say 4 ( For partitioning the sections within the Speaker Stand.

You could install few screw on the top of the Speaker stand to install Spring and screen to cover the small shelves in the stem of the Stand

I did my Own DIY Stand with Simple Threaded Rod and 5 Sheets of Plywood with 2.2\2 Feet. You dont believe me, it took 1 Hour for me to complete the Stand from the Cutting time to assemble. But I did few mistakes, but Stand is sturdy.

Just a measuring Tape, a Blue print,Pencil, Should be enough to start with :-)

That was great piece of info.. Not sure if i can absorb so many dimensions.. Will post a pic of the living room to give a rough idea..

The cabinet door could be of the slatted wooden type as well though that would increase expenses. Glass is, of course, more convenient for remote operation.

Speakers on empty boxes is not a good idea. The Klipsches do deserve better :D.
Since you are raring for some carpentry, you could DIY a pair of stands.

A low height A/V rack would be the best option. Wall mount the TV above the rack leaving some space, to keep the center channel on top of the rack in open space. All other partition and space in the rack is according to your need.

I have given the drawing to an interior person and got the A/V furniture done.
Have open shelf in the middle for AVR.
Below that there is a drawer.
On either sides 4 shelves with glass doors fixed on wooden frame.

Sound cool. How much roughly did it cost for you?

Dude, it's them chairs that makes the whole thing unattractive. get some stands, do some cable management, ( i have been planning for the past year LOL) and make it tidy. It will look much better.

[emoji1] I was in no way prepared for the BS.. Hence put them on plastic chairs, to complete burn in..

But was prepared to make a wooden stand like this..

Though this needs precise cutting & expertise in doing it, thought to take help of my younger brother and my dad who have reasonable expertise in machining...

Now contemplating between the custom TV stand which can accommodate all (or) make wooden speaker stands..

If I make speaker stand, will hinder subwoofer placement..

If tv stand, can make room for it..

The plan was to have marble slab , now changed to lamianted ply sheets and granite stone on top( still to place it - very heavy to move ).
