elangoas,
Racks to host AVRs need to be at least 16-20 inches deep. 16" for shallow depth AVRs and 20" for full depth AVRs.
Otherwise you will have bent of shape cables (not desirable).
Rack below the TV should take all heavy and deep items. You can place center speaker above TV too.
Take a look at this and see if it can be scaled/modified to your room dimensions

Sound Foundation stands (magma's creations) have replaced the red stools in the setup.
What is your equipment list? Present and planned, FMs may be able to give you ideas accordingly.
Cheers,

Try sketchup from google. very simple to use and can be accurate with dimensions.
I could help you out in this situation. If interested PM me your email and send me the dimensions. Shouldn't be too much of an hassle. Here is a TV stand that i built 4 years ago...

Am a Mathemetician (Maths Graduatehyeah
, but have no knowledge of drawing and use of equipments to sketch them...
I used only A4 size paper and pencil to make a miniature drawing with exact dimensions and handed it over to carpenter and requested him not to deviate any dimension...
This stand was designed to accomodate a 32 inch TV, an AVR, a stereo power amplifier, a Center channel speaker, a CD player, a PC and some frequently used Discs..
Only when i moved to 46 inch screen, i realised that i made a mistake with the height of the TV stand... It was too high for a 46inch TV for someone sitting on the floor & watching it.... Our neck was strained, when watching prolonged period... That was a flaw
Thought to take pointers from FM here this time and see what works..

I made a simple teak rack with slats for air flow.
Sounds great and not very expensive to make if you have a good carpenter.
Match the polish color to your door and it may be a nice simple solution.

There is a reason why TV consoles are built the way they are. The ideal position for a TV is to be vertically centered at eye height. This matters if you watch a lot of TV otherwise if you are like me and my family at home - the TV could be mounted on the ceiling for all we care![]()
Do you have any issues with the TV on the wall?
Tweeters at ear level is the accepted intel. Why do you want a maximum height?
Hi Elangoas,
As I told you in my PMs, I have a slightly simple and better idea for an audio stand.
The advantages are as follows:
1) Easy to build. No carpentering skills required.
2) Cost wise is less.
3) Flexible in terms of increasing or decreasing the size of the individual shelves.
4) Extremely durable.
5) Size/height/design of the stand can be increased as time passes with minimal investment.
6) For a 4 tier stand the approximate cost stands at 5000-6000 rupees.
Disadvantages:
1) Does not have designer look or appeal. Simple looking. If you are looking for "Magma" sound foundations look, build something else.
2) Poor WAF factor.
I tried to use Sketch up, but I am poor in that soft ware. I will build my own and post a new thread about it. Or if someone can help me use sketch up or similar software, I can post my plan for the build for the benefit of our members.
