Hi guys,

I am looking to upgrade my AV receiver from my current Denon 1707. It has served me well for many years. I am going to use the same speakers (see sig) as of now. However, I want to add 2 more speakers (rear side), to make it a 7.1 system initially. May add a sub later.

I am looking at Denon 3313 or X2000. Someone told me the X2000 has problems. Please put in your recommendations.

I am willing to look at other brands like Onkyo, Marantz, Yamaha, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Consider Denon X 3000/4000, if you have a good budget.....

Also instead of using surround back channels, try them as front wide speakers with Audyssey DSX mode... This also needs some space in your front walls....

Thanks,

I was looking up Ebay GEB and the price difference is quite large. For example, Denon x3000 can be had for around 64k or lower on Ebay GEB. Coupled with a step down transfer for 750 W, for around 3-4K, it is a saving of 20 K compared to the 90K+ pricing in India. :D

Any other sites to get AV receivers cheap and getting them imported via iShopInternational?

Thanks!

Why dont you consider Marantz SR 6008 ? i'm upgrading my Denon 1612 and almost decided on SR6008. I have a good deal (65K) from Hifimart for 6008

When you want to buy an High end AVR in India, I think it is a mistake.....When you know the pricing is FAIR/BEST middle east, Europe & US, try every means to get it from there, of-course you will have to risk the warranty.....

Buying an high end AVR in India, is like day light robbery..... Ridiculously priced...

I would never buy any AVR from India... Will try all my best to get it from any of my friends who work/passby Middle east countries.....

We already have the limit of 35K... Anything above am willing to pay the duty @ customs and get it....But thatz just me...

me too, I was with these cables from day one. The system does sound good though.thanks

@ John - Emotiva? If you delegate the front three channel duties to an outboard amp, the remaining channels can be powered by your AVR with flourish. Any good power amp should work I think.

Thanks Shuv. Never had this in mind, now has put me thinking. Can I add a power amp to the Denon 1707?

Meanwhile, should I get an AVR from the US like Onkyo 818, how much power should the 220 volts-110 volts step-down transformer be?

If you AVR has pre-outs, then you can add the power-amp.. But looks like your model doesn't have Pre-outs...

Try to get AVR from Middle East/Europe countries....Most of the models have 220 ~ 240V ratings & you will not need a step down transformer......

If you are thinking abt getting it from US, then try the Dual voltage models...You will not need any step down transformer..

Thanks bud, as of now, the e-commerce sites seem to charge a premium for 220 volt receivers. So the options are to 1) Look for a good deal here or 2) Buy a 110 volt model from the US and use a step-down transformer.

I think you should wait for few more months. New receivers will be announced soon. You will be glad if you wait.

Thanks bud. Any specific models on your radar? Also, I am always afraid they will be priced sky high.

In case I wait, I will go for a PJ upgrade.

Another question bugs me a lot. A lot (well all) of these mid AV receivers are made for multi-rooms which I am not going to use. Is there a good receiver for single room use? Hope the question is not dumb
