I auditioned both these AVRs and unable to decide which one to go for. I want to use it with my Q Acoustic 2000i series speakers. Presently I am using Yamaha 373. I want to upgrade to better AVR. I found Marantz pumping marginally more punch than Denon and also better color rendering. The seller is quoting Marantz little more than Denon. My budget is about 50k. Please suggest.

Denon X 2000 is better choice than Marantz SR 5007 as it has Audyssey MultiEQ XT room Calibration...

If you like Marantz then go for it , decide based on what you like rather than feature set as most of the users hardly use even half of them. Happy hunting!

+ 1 to the above, Buy the one which you like. Also I think Marantz is a better build then the Denon and personally I like Marantz sound.

regards

If you like Marantz then go for it,don't think more,it will leads confuse. I can suggest Marantz SR 5007,but check with speakers how it will sound.

Marantz has a better build quality than Denon. If you usage is mainly movies then denon would be better. Incase the usage is 50% movies and 50% music, Marantz would be a better choice.

Thanks Elangoas. I think audyssey and multieq xt room calibration are available in Marantz too.

Denon Has MultiEQ XT while Marantz has MultiEQ only....

MultiEQ XT is the advanced version, while MultiEQ is basic version....

If you watch lot of movies, then an advanced room calibration will defenetly help you...

Wrong here
According to specifications,SR5007 also has Multieq XT-
Marantz US | SR5007

I will vote for marantz only for its better sound quality than Denon. After few days, you may find Denon sound dry in music.

Oops... Sorry about the confusion... Thanks for pointing Spirovious & captainrizal I think some link in google listed Marantz 5007 with Multi EQ... I stand corrected..

This makes both Denon X2000 and Marantz SR 5007 even.....

why not go for marantz sr5008. i have it & its a good upgrade over my denon avr2113 which is (i think) similar as denon avr 2000.
if marantz 5008 is over your budget then go for marantz sr5007 .

Pls don't go by specification. Go by what you hear.
In my audition, Marantz SR5008 is a clear winner. Did not like SR6007. Which makes SR5007 still worse.
Spend little more and get the SR5008.

Marantz is a better option be coz of the pre outs. Have been using 5007 for a year now.

Thanks guys. I have almost decided now to go with Marantz. I heard from one dealer in Kolkata that he sold about 7-8 Marantz AVRs but all had same problem of shutting down on its own. He had to recall all AVRs and return to the importer. I don't how far that is true. Did any of you experience this shutting down problem?
Another thing, do we need 4k upscaling now? Does it do any upscaling to normal blue ray movies or Mkv movies?

I didn't face any such problem until now with marantz sr5008. but it happened with my earlier denon avr 2113

The problem used to be with **04 series.Later series are better. Also if speakers demands more power, then it can go in protection mode.I read somewhere that older series used to have caps of 16000uF and newer series with 10000uF.So dont know if that makes issue with high power requirement.

Thanks guys, I have placed order for Marantz SR 5007. It should arrive to my place by Monday if seller ships it today.

I received my Marantz AVR yesterday. The courier company took 5 days to deliver due to some problems. Now I'm waiting for interconnects. I should have ordered all together. I will share my experience after receiving interconnects.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
