Call the dealer , ask him to replace the demo piece .Tell him you know it was 100% demo piece. He should accept and replace it with new one.Don't loose temper in the starting stage itself ,but politely tell him that you can go to any extent to get the new piece replacement. All the best for getting the new replacement .

Thanks subbubusk.
Called them up and told that it is showing 100 and Sony guys said it has to be 0.
They said they will get back to me tomorrow morning.

Hi

It would be great to share the commands punched in by the technician to all forum members in checking out their TVs....All the best for the replacement...

Technician didn't have any idea how to check it, fortunately the hifivision forum helped which had this info.

Press
Display (I+)
5
Volume Down
Power
Gets you into the diagnostics screen which shows the hours.
The bottom left 5 numbers are the hours
Next 5 are boot count
and last 5 are the lcd panel hours.

Use this in sequence quickly and you will find the screen to get the info.
I have captured the screenshot with serial no so that I can get it replaced.
I am hoping to get the replacement done soon, was eagerly waiting to watch some movies over the weekend.

Spoke to the dealer and they agreed to replace the set today evening.
Big thanks to hifivision via which I was able to check the usage hours, hopefully the next one I get is a good one.

Also hoping the Manufacturer technician people really know how to check these and tell customers about the same, many could be cheated this way.

But have to say the dealer was very good in the call and said nothing to worry and the new piece will arrive today.

Glad that you're getting a fresh tv.

It's very hard to believe that these technicians don't know how to get into the setup screen.

But in the first place, he shouldn't have delivered you the demo piece na? It's the dealer + sales team know what piece you're going to get. If someone doesn't find out what he is getting, he is stuck with it.

I got a supposedly fresh piece with scratches all over the panels + supposed to be three warranty service coupons of which two were already torn out (missing) + a service manual (~A 4 size) which was folded in four as if someone kept it in their pant packets (instead of a flat, new looking manual right out of the box).

The next day after the installation only, we noticed the scratches all over panels and immediately called up Chandra Vision (the dealer) and sent an email to them as well as registered a formal complaint with the SONY website. Things started happening and within the next day, my tv was replaced with a new one.

(However, I come to know of usage hours only now)

Thanks for sharing!

I always believe that the dealer + sales team combo knows what a customer is getting; whether a demo or a fresh piece. It can't happen without the knowledge of the big bosses.

Cheers!
BK

@MJ23Bulls,

Agree, the dealer + sales team have to ensure they ship a new product unopened box to the customer who has shelled out a lot of money for that.
We haven't given money to buy a demo piece which they have been using and perhaps handled badly as well.

Folks,

What are these Image Retention(IR) test and running Burn-In slides, how do I do it?

You have bought sony led right? IR and burn in slides are related to plasma tvs.You dont need to run these in your led tv.

Got the replacement set and technician installed it in the evening, and again I am out of luck and running out of patience here.
I got a set with 82 hours of usage this time around with 46 reboots.

Just thinking now that whether all these w850a models have this issue or not?
Any W850 users here?

SONY should clarify if they do some kind of tests at the factory itself. Please write your concerns in their site's feedback section. Please copy, paste the same content to the dealer's email id too. As this is the recurring instance, as a consumer, one should be diligent to record all these events. Over the phone isn't going help much in case of any legal recourse (Pray it doesn't have to go thus far!)

Tough luck mate.

Why don't you ask the dealer to refund your money, and try getting the set from a different place?

Today is holiday due to Elections here in Karnataka, he said we shall talk on Friday.
I will tell them that, I will come to showroom and they can open the box piece and check for usage hours and it is 0 only then ship the same to my house (noting down serial no).

If not I will ask for a refund and buy it from a different place.
I had sent an email to Sony for the 1st case, will send the same again for the 2nd time.

Sad to see Sony dealers doing this, speaks a lot about the volumes they are selling, or trying to pass of Demo sets to customers to get rid of old stocks.

I guess some of it is Sony's fault as well, today I spoke to the dealer and he gave me the no of the Sony person from whom they get the TVs to their shop.
I spoke to that person and said I know how to check usage hours and he said they will check for it and ensure that the TV I get delivered will be 0 for sure.
Waiting for the replacement now.

Got the TV replaced and it showed 00000-00007-00000 and the 7 boot should be fine as the setup process itself involved 4 boots and we booted to check usage twice.

All's well that ends well ha.

How are you finding the TV?

The 50W800B and 46W950 are similarly priced (10k+/-).
Flipkart has the W800B for 1.09L and W950 for 1.04.

W850 is for 93k at Croma.

Frankly, I have seen all 3 on demo, and still finding it difficult to choose one from the above.

Did you demo it using your own videos.
I have had this for a week+ and must say have fallen in love.
Have tested everything like screen mirroring YouTube pairing HDMI via phone and watched 3d and Bluray content and all has worked cool.

Also the smart features are decent like ted video vimeo...

W950 is a bit better version for 3d because it is active glasses.
W800 adv is 50inch and 3inch big is also good buy depends on how far viewing distance.

Mine is 8feet and it is perfect, suggest bargaining for w850 around 90k or less so that it works out in budget also.

For me I didn't want to spend the extra 15k from w850.

Download and watch some imax videos as they test it to best and I feel all 3 will more or less be same. Though I felt w800 and w700 little lower on pq compared to w850a.

Mine is only 6.5 feet, so i guess the 50 will be too big.
But then I have read people comment here with 5 feet distance and complaining that they find 46 too small.
I have demoed all three with Avatar and couldn't come to any conclusion (apart from the fact that 950 blacks was much better, but I guess that is something calibration would take care of).
